I would think he's taking some much needed rest , but the rumor mill will be working overtime until he gets back to work.

Being Putin had a phone conversation with Obama on the 6th we can assume he's very much alive.

I think that the matters raised in the article you linked to with reference to the LPR/DPR and in Abkhazia are not coincidentally connected with his changes to his public plans. Something is afoot.
