This is most likely damage control. There was plenty of involvement by Hillary and friends, and the liberals are going to have much explaining to do

If we are to beleive what we are told: after all this time there's no connection with Trump (or any other U.S citizen) which makes the collusion case untenable. But there are some magical people who are all, very conveniently, beyond the reach of the U.S 'justice system' who are accused of doing all the bad stuff that Team Trump has been accused of being complicit in.

It is rather reminiscent of the Polonium Case in Britain. A cock and bull story made up to cover another more sordid story and where the accused are all out of reach of British courts and therefore not in a position to stand up and provide a sworn refutation of the fictions made against them.
