Title: Victory Day May 9th..
Post by: Steveboy on May 05, 2016, 07:00:04 AM
May the 9th is Victory day in Russia. I hope everyone here with a Russian wife/partner will be standing on the balcony/patio with a glass of wine a kalashnikov and waving the Russian flag  ;D

Don't worry about about what your neighbours think

Sure I will do that on May 9th.  However today is Cinco de Mayo in the USA and Mexico so us Americans and Mexican-Americans will be standing on the balcony drinking Margarita's and waving to the Mexican flag.

I think it's the British way, I quietly respect anyone who's fought for their country (yes, even Germans) but I don't see any reason to go all flag-waving for it.

Sounds pretty cool. I thought you were trying to purge your society of Mexicans....building walls and stuff?

Steve, I agree with you, I believe those who fought in these wars should be remembered.

but had to comment.
Based on your comments in the other thread,
they were just soldiers doing their job.
They signed up, knew the risks and got paid for it,
Why would you celebrate?

Few years ago I had the privilege to celebrate the holiday in Moscow, at victory park. Have some great memories of that day.
Pity my PC, is disabled, I have a bunch of great photos, from that day.

Just a word of advice, traffic in that general area was brutal. My wife and I ended up walking for over an hour before we were able to get a taxi.
Don't exactly remember why the metro was not an option?

Your 100% correct there, but it was some time back and they had no choice in the matter other than to go to war or be shot at home for being a coward..
Those days you didn't hear so many baby stories ( The iPad was taken way/they had no food for two days, ect ect ) Those guys had no option but to go to war. Today is a different matter , you go to war as a career and that career is based on either killing people or murdering people ( Going to war via George Bush usually meant murdering people)
Its like all these soldiers who fought in Afghanistan seem to need to go for some therapy for all the distress they have seen?? I never understand this! Who forced them to go there??
As they say if you "Cant do the time , don't do the crime"

Anyway the Russians should be remembered for their part in defeating the Nazis. Most people in the West have no idea about this.

Most of us love Mexicans, provided they respect our country and come here legally.  It's a very tough concept for some to comprehend, especially when they are only capable of listening to sound bites and twisted propaganda of the lefties.

Most of us love Mexicans,

Only when they are cleaning your pool or serving you burgers I think.

I don't notice you flocking to marry their women. For that y'all dream of importing superior European models.
