 Have a great trip Wes!

Alt-Str, I sent you a pm about a girl my wife knows who works at an agency in Dnep. Don't know much about it, but you have the contact info. Let us know what they are like if you get in touch with them.
 Good luck!

Hello all:
I have been here in Dnepr for almost a week mainly to get some dental work done that no one in Canada seems to know about.  It is good to once again be able to eat normally.  I have been in contact with Alt-Str via email and also Lora has spoken via skype with him too.  Hope to actually meet up with him before I return to Canada on Tuesday.  This was a very quick trip visiting with my inlaws while geting my dential needs seen too.

I am guessing that you are having a lot of work done?
Do you have any ideas as to what the cost of a full mouth remont plus accommodation in decent comfort might run to?

Any contact info for the mouth wizards with whom you are working?

Let me know if you need other contacts Andrew. My wife's dentist did some great work on a broken tooth for me and I'm pretty sure my wife said she knows people who rent out apartments in Dnep.

Oh, and I'm sure she can recommend a good sushi bar too if you are going to Dnep to meet a lady you found on one of those mob sites you are always searching on...

Thanks d672, not looking for women. :)

Estonia offers good value for money for dentistry but I am attracted to the idea of taking a small vacation and coming back with a faceful of new dentistry because I hate going to he dentist. :)

Well if you ask me the biggest attraction in Dnep is the women, not too much else interesting to see there. Your loss!   :)

Just pm me if you want some contact info about the dentist or apartments

Andrew,

I can look up the rental agent I used, cheaper if you contact directly.

There is the holocaust museum, restaurants, stores, and hotel.  The museum was free, or almost free.  Everything else there seemed pricey.

The downtown area of Dnepro was nice, and it was along the 'boardwalk' by the river.  Several nice restaurants along the river, they even serenaded my tour guide and I.

I can get you her info if you want a tour guide.  She was around 10 pounds an hour.

Thanks, IF I were to make such a visit I would be fully able to find my own way around. Finding a dental practice to work with is the biggest issue, second comes accommodation (a decent hotel being top choice!)but the rest is not needed. One reason for lack of need being that if one is having a few days of concentrated work done sightseeing and shagging are unlikely to be near the top of the agenda. ;)
But, yeah, the day I need a guide to help me around a city is the day I should be moving into sheltered accommodation.

Hi Andrew:
The top dentist clinic in Dnepr is the one the family uses and where I attended.  The cost including flying here for a week is less than just the cost my own dentist wanted in Toronto not including the specialist.  As to where to stay here I visited at the house of Lora's family so that too is simple for me.

The clinic's patients includes former President Kutchma among others and for posts and/or implants and the like the Director's son is one of the formost dentists in Dnepr. Oblast and likely Ukraine.  He is now off to a conference in Zurich and speaks good English as well.  He has also studied in Canada and the USA too.  The third genertion is now studying and thus his son is off to Vienna next year on a scolarship too.

Hope this helps.  Wes.

On another note Alt-Str and I met up yesterday afternoon and explored part of the city centre of Dnepr.  I was able to tell him something of how the downtown has changed and developed over the past 11 years since my first visit when the only Mall in the city was the central Grand Plaza where we had coffee and chatted before heading out to other more recent areas including the MOST Mall closer to the river from the central department store and McDonald's.

Seems inflation has hit even here as the streetcar fare has increased to 1.5 G. from the 1G it has been for the previous 10 years of my visits here.

Thanks for the input, this will be a job for next year. Last night somebody shared some info about dental tourism over here so I can do research and make comparisons because for sure the total cost will be not be insignificant whatever I do and the quality of the work will be in the truest sense 'in my face'.

Wish I had been here 10 years ago, I am at over 20 k, last 10 years and close to 30 in total.
Another 3-4 to go, here it is insane prices.
There is nothing permanent except change.

With all this dental talk I thought I would share my opinion on having a cavity free set of teeth. From childhood I never ate cold cereal for breakfast, I never drank sugary drinks, colas or fruit juices. I fortunately have never been a fan of candy so even during Halloween, I often would have a bunch of candy left over from the previous year.
Growing up I saw the other kids having sugary cereal, soft drinks and candy on a regular basis, and it seemed that every one of them had a filling or two, some had more, but I had none. A child's enamel takes time to harden, sugar breaks that enamel down creating a lifetime sentence to the dentists chair. While I did feel denied somewhat as a child not being able to drink colas daily (I did get a can or two a year) I am thankful that at age 45 I am still filling free. I attribute this to a very low sugar diet in my childhood, and eating oatmeal every morning. I still enjoy the oats to this day, and rarely eat the cold cereals that are loaded with sugar, and pack into the molars well after the morning brush.
I have taken my mothers approach now with my step daughter, delivering the evils of sugar on the teeth at her tender age. She was reluctant at first, but after presenting some hard evidence she is now aware of the evils of sugar, and takes steps to reduce the effects on her teeth. I'm hoping I'll be as successful as my mother.

Don - Dentists:
My early problems was the fact freezing never worked for me even after 3 doses there was no killing the pain of dental work, drilling and the like.  So after many years of being unable to bear the pains of a cure I had bridges put in over my then existing teeth.  The top bridge broke off at the beginning of September and thus my search for a solution ending with coming here to Ukraine.

Back to Topic:
Alt-Star has been here for a couple of weeks now.  Mainly he is walking around as no one has shown him how to use the streetcars, trollies and/or mini-buses.  He has met a few ladies, but not yet set up any 2nd. dates so far.   We have shared some thoughts but it is really up to him on what he wants to do to move things forward with the ladies. He needs to begin moving forward to 2nd and 3rd dates if he wants to find a good lady.  He seems to rely too much on translators instead of directly via email with those ladies he has met and says he is interested in.  Thus I have passed along some thougths and now the rest is up to him to play things forward.

Well tomorrow I head back home to Canada.

Hi everyone:
I have now returned, new teeth and all to Toronto.  Today Lora and I met Matt's (from the old long ago site) wife and her sister who lives here in Toronto.  It was Matt's wife's first visit to Toronto from their home in LA. for the first time.  The girls had a great time as we ate lunch and chatted downtown together.
