Title: Flowers to Poltava
Post by: ducky on January 18, 2014, 07:38:17 PM
Greetings all.   tiphat

A few quick questions here please...

I am fairly new at this and have been "poking around" various sites to figure out the ins and outs of dating in Ukraine.  I have also been reading this site for the past few months and learning a few things here as well.  Well, long story short, I have now met a lady I would like to send flowers to.  I have a few delivery sites bookmarked for comparison already and have seen a few recommended on this site.

Oh yeah, here are the questions.   :)

1.  She lives in Poltava.  So, I wonder does anybody know a particularly reliable florist there that I can depend on?  If not, I will just use one of the recommended links from this site.

2.  I have always seen the "gifts" listed on the dating sites and viewed those as simply a fake purchase.  Where you send them lots of money, they call in the girl to take a picture of her with your gift and then send her home only with a small commission check.  This has made me wonder if some of the florists have a similar deal going with the agencies.  Do I have to wonder about this or am I being too paranoid?  The reason this is important to me is if she is happy to receive roses from her beloved, then I am happy.  If she is happy only because she gets a cut of the action, then I am not.

It seems that all the sites I have looked at show only the "tourist price", with no way to find out how much the locals pay.  I know a little Russian, but would never pass for a local in a million years...

Thanks in advance

Flowers delivered at what I think is the best price I have seen via the internet in Ukraine--also do Russia.
http://www.sendflowers.ua
http://ua-flowers.com/flower-delivery-kiev
Sold: 7564
Red roses by the piece - Composition: rose red.
Red roses by the piece From 21* UAH Sold: 2026       USD$3 approx
White roses by the piece - Composition: rose white.
White roses by the piece From 21* UAH Sold: 1112
Memories + candies as a gift - Composition: Raffaello,russkus,Rose red,aspidistra,packing.
Memories + candies as a gift

This is very cheap-- local prices. I was quoted  29 UAH per rose ( 228UAH(USD$28.50 approx)when ordering 9) plus 49UAH delivery/ + 1 yes one as in 1 UAH for confirming photo and email.
That is as good as it is going to get I think.  Note -they are offering free delivery in Kiev. Delivery I paid was in another city.
Previously I was very reluctant to pay asking prices quoted as they were out of all  proportion to what I knew were costs there--I dealt direct  via email with market florist who helped me directly--but it was only one smaller city. No excuse at that price not to be sending!!

The connection above is great service, cost is easily the best as it is at local price-- not inflated to the ridiculous price to the ignorant.
Other gifts--eg  chocolates  are not much more than supermarket price there -- so a relative bargain!
The service was outstanding and communication to the point of excessive !!
English is fine-not a problem.Use 2nd link to English page.

I have a general question for those who have lived in the FSU region.  Much has been said about the possibility of ordering flowers through an agency and where the agency "pretends" to deliver the flowers to the lady and takes a photo of her receiving them and then taking them back and giving her a kickback payment.  If you are able to get her address and then order flowers by using a florist delivery service in the FSU region, is there a possibility that the florist company would do the same thing as the agency?  That is, bring the flowers to the lady's home, take a photo, and then take back the flowers and give her a small stipend for her trouble?  The florist, in effect, committed internet business fraud.  Does this occur in the FSU region given the many corrupt business practices already there?   :chuckle:

Based on comments I have heard in Ukraine I suspect this does happen. I guess the flower giving thing is a practice that agencies foisted on Western men to maximize profit.

The idea though of giving flowers to a woman you have never met is strange. The best gift you could give is get on a plane and meet them in person. Most likely this approach would be cost, time and emotionally effective.

I've used these folks before, successfully, and found them to be reliable.  One of my long-term girls helpfully reminds me 3 business days prior to any Holy Day of Floral Obligation on my part--March 8, her birthday and New Year--so that I can make arrangements.  She is always happy with the results.

With headline women from the bigger sites who have regular deliveries from would be suitors abroad, who may know the florist, yes it happens. With random florist delivering to a random woman, unlikely.

The best advice is NOT to use any independent UKRAINIAN flower delivery company especially if they have some stupid web site telling you fairy stories about delivering flowers to your loved ones. Its Ukraine  your money will probably be stolen. I know two operators in Kiev of such web sites that specialise in ripping off Western men.

As you know Ukraine is crooked as they come.

Best always to use Interflora as it is franchised with a global brand your more likely to get what you paid for. Or another International affiliate.

FORGET INDEPENDANT UKRAINIAN FLOWER DELIVERY COMPANIES..no difference there when searching a UKRAINIAN BRIDE

Stay with a well known brand and franchise.

The best advise I would give on sending flowers is DONT SEND ANY  :smoking:

Genuine women are not searching for a man to send her flowers? Why do they need flowers sent to them??

For some strange reason guys think the proper thing to do is send some flowers to the women  ???  If not flowers a mobile phone  ???  Or a cuddly toy  ???

DO NOT SEND ANYTHING!!! If she is genuine do you think this women will desert you because you have not sent a bunch of flowers?? I think not...

Sending flowers to a women is something you do after you have met the women in real or at least been in communication for a long time with firm plans and a date to meet.
Sending flowers out to every "tom dick and harry " should be avoided at all costs. Usually guys who are prone to be come victims of scammers send flowers....

You don't need to buy a women, impress a women or anything close to that. All you need to do is be genuine and meet up.

Flowers no no no... :8)

COMPLETE BOLLOCKS

I have never in my life met a woman you did not appreciate a gift of flowers.

In my time I have face to face dated around 100 Ukrainian women (and married one )

A gift of flowers makes you stand out from the crowd.  When I was actively dating I compared a plain email invitation to a meeting with a hand delivered message attached to a single long stemmed red rose.

Guess what - I got a 300% better response rate with the rose.

Almost every woman I invited this way turned up  ;D

Don't use the agency you met through.  Agencies view gifts as a lucrative source of extra revenue.

Listen to BB he has up to date experience or use interflora.

My wife loves flowers..

Told me the other day that she loves to look at them and smell them..

Told her to go live in a  :censored: ing flower shop..

On a more serious note, I always used to use Interflora back in them days...

Only once had a problem, when they delivered some flowers 2 days earlier than they should have, which was on her birthday, they immediately sent another bunch Foc on the correct day..

Wifey was impressed... :king:

What is the Russian thing with Apple Blossom trees about?

They are out here and she has had me taking photos of her smelling them, sat in them, looking wistfully at them. Numerous outfits and days.  :-\

These photos are now on VK and Odnoklassniki. It seems people pay money via SMS to vote photos 5+ or something........ and they really do (she has rakes of them).  :rolleye0009:

I use social media for business but wont even have a personal Facebook account. Or VK/Odnoklassniki/whatever.

I agree, and yes I am a Yankee-Cloggie it does not get much tighter. Unless a suitor has a passport and ticket to his dearest in hand it is a waste of money.

I would suggest send the flowers to Steve's wife she will be grateful and there will be less Steve grumpy posting.

You mean a service like this?

http://www.ukpassportoffices.co.uk/guaranteed-passport/

They are very crafty, I have seen many web sites like this. You think your dealing with the Passport office but intact they just offer a service thats way over priced!
One thing I don't have tatted on my forehead is "Mug"

I can do from Moldova as we have family returning to the UK from there, will just take a week. It will just mean I will have to climb over the hedge when we go down to Chisinau to avoid the border guards :)

No, I don't mean that. The one at Victoria is HM Passport Office. You pay a bit more for the same day service but if you need a passport renewed in a hurry its worth it.
The link you gave is just some dodgy intermediary service unaffiliated to HMG. Wouldn't touch em with a barge pole.

I guess I'm just not romantic   :hidechair:  Or maybe Im just tight

I know for sure I would never send any flowers to a women in Poltava  ;D

I would suggest that you sending flowers to a woman ANYWHERE may result in a proverbial "Knife in the back"...

I agree, and yes I am a Yankee-Cloggie it does not get much tighter. Unless a suitor has a passport and ticket to his dearest in hand it is a waste of money.

I would suggest send the flowers to Steve's wife she will be grateful and there will be less Steve grumpy posting.

Its the wife Birthday tomorrow  :) She's always reminding me about the flowers especially when we walk past the florist , it just so happens our hands are usually full with shopping so no room

Anyway she in for a nice shopping trip tomorrow in London  ;D

And a new passport for you??

No  :(  Have no time as were in Transnistria in 4 weeks , I will solve the passport problem there ;D  Then its Yalta in Crimea a couple of weeks after for a sun tan  :travel:
Steve, you can get a new passport at waterloo in 4 hours, go in in the am, collect in the pm, job done..
Don't you mean Victoria?
Premium service, tho'.

I got mine renewed in Liverpool 2013 in 4 hours, Sunday too. There was a huge Russian ship in Dock (North Atlantic WW2 celebration or something) and Russian sailors everywhere, I was chatting to some in Russian, later on near the Cavern (full of Russian Sailors!) this Scouse beggar starts hassling me for money, just ignored him. My then 12 yo daughter was with me, listening to this Scouse babble and said "Is he Russian too?" She never understood a word he said...

No, I don't mean that. The one at Victoria is HM Passport Office. You pay a bit more for the same day service but if you need a passport renewed in a hurry its worth it.

I will have a look if I can find it :)

Never had these sort of problems 2000 years ago !!!

Golden.   I attend the English Reformed Church in Amsterdam. We once had a minister come from one of the Scottish Islands, no one, even the Scotts, had a clue what the sermon was about.

Maybe it was Scots Gaelic?

Instant passport service is handy. Also, once your ugly mug is on the system on can order drivers licences online and, I think, replacement passports.
