Maps - Moscow Metro and Streets
« on: April 12, 2007, 02:44:12 PM »
Street map with clearly marked metro stations:

http://www.infoservices.com/moscow/map/moscow_city_map/

Detailed street map with full street index:

http://www.euroave.com/maps/00mapx.php?xcity=moscow

(Edit by Mendeleyev: The first map can be manipulated to isolate smaller areas by clicking on a section of the map and a more detailed view of the area clicked with come into view. Not very helpful for those who don't already have knowledge of where things are in Moscow. The second map is an overview with many Metro stations missing. However if you click on the map and use the scroll function to isolate smaller areas the missing Metro stations will appear.)

Great system. Easiest way to get around Moscow. You certainly don't want to drive in Moscow.

Well, I have found a taxi firm who charge $1 per km travelled, they'll meet you at the airport, first 30 mins is free (waiting that is) then charged from there onwards.

Depends what you're after, and time you arrive in city.

I will of course keep everyone updated of any information that might be worth sharing ;)

Maybe I'll start a thread based on my trip... who knows ;)

Some of the expats I met in Moscow have their favorite taxis they'll use in cases where the metro isn't convenient. In my experience all taxis in Moscow aren't equal, there are a few good ones and many more bad ones.

I'll be honest, it's my GF's friends, friend, but hey if it works out I'll share his service, why not.

Be interested if anyone has an english translated map though?

Maps - Moscow Metro and Streets
« Reply #12 on: April 16, 2014, 02:47:30 AM »
The Metro has grown since previous maps so we'll do some updating.

- The most useful is this interactive map. Click on the station you wish to depart, then on the station you wish to arrive. The interactive map will show you the quickest route and also give you the estimated time of travel from one station to another: http://mosmetro.ru/flash/scheme11.html

In the sample shown I started at the Mendeleyev Journal office and asked the map to show me how to reach Plaza of the Revolution station (Площадь Революции) in the centre of Moscow and an easy entrance for Red Square.

- A very handy map for guys whose Russian language skills are lacking is this one: http://news.metro.ru/sc_lat.html

This map from the Art Lebedev studios is excellent too.

The maps I've linked above are official maps and if traveling use those links as they'll automatically update as the Metro continues to grow. Even on the first page of Google most of the maps there are outdated.
