Some flowers
« on: May 07, 2009, 10:21:43 PM »
Just some flower pictures, taken on May 7th 2009. We had a real heavy mist for most of the day, and then some sun for a little bit.

Thanks for looking  :)

Our guide (in Turkey) said that a motherland of tulips is Turkey (not Netherlands).
Beautifull photos!

Thanks.

If your guide was correct, they would have made this industry, not NL ;)

Tulips like moderate weather with many rain. Turkey is too much south for growing tulips. Of course if you try hard enough they will grow, but "nature" grows them in more northern regions.

Did you know that Istanbuls mayor tried to claim the same, but it took him 3 years before a single tulip would grow in the fields outside Istanbul?

I was amazed by their tulips: big and we saw them everywhere.

It is just a picture from an internet (not mine) but very beautiful anyway.
