This is Lenin in.... drum roll please...
City: Fremont (Ballard), part of Seattle
    State: Washington
    Country: US

The goofey WM in front of the statue is moi.
The dog is, well, a dog... my chihuahua Skew.
Oh, and the Stratocastor pickguard is, well, a Stratocastor pickguard.
I have several of them, attached to the several Strats I own, which, are.... well, Stratorcstors.
The rest is too long a story.

How a 5-6 ton bronze of Lenin came to be in Fremont is a long story... Let's just say that Fremont is full of hippies with more money and drugs than brains, and apparently too much free time!

The second picture is the famous Fremont Troll who lives under the bridge about 1 block (a few hundred meters) from the Lenin statue. It has nothing to do with Lenin or RUA or FSUW, it's just pretty cool.

What is up with the pick guard?

I've played git (guitar) most my life.

I have 9 (or is 10?) gits, 3 are Fender Stratorcastors (or is it stratcastErs, I can never keep that straight.)

Because I think Strats are Da Bomb, I belong to a Fender players' forum:
http://www.fenderpick.com

We did a thing (program, I guess you might call it) where a strat pickguard was sent to any member who wanted to receive it, sign it, and send it on.

The only stipulation was that when the member got it, they had to sign it, take pictures of the pickguard with themselves near their home, then send it on to the next person.

That's where these pictures came from.

The program was called the FenderPickguard World Tour, here's the thread
http://www.fenderpick.com/showthread.php?t=7641&highlight=smallest

The pickguard made it's way all over America, Canada, then on to parts of Mexico, Germany, numerous stops in the British Isles, Budapest, etc etc.

It seems that Richmond City (aka Vancouver) now has its own Lenin   :-X On top of Lenin's head is an odd little Mao with a femine body. Don't ask, as I don't know why

Hm... is your Fender a "pre-fire" one, or "post-fire"?

Which fire, and whose Strat (mine or Stubbens)?

And shouldn't that really be pre or post CBS???

BTW, my #1 Strat is a '62 Reissue. It's one of the ones made in California with the original production machinery and so on. As such it is essentially a NOS (new, old stock) pre-CBS Strat.

Of course, it (and my other customized Strat) have aftermarket (Van Zandt) pickups , custom Warmoth necks, custom shielding, modified wiring, etc etc.

Here's a link to a Photobucket album for the padouk strat:

I have one Lenin I have to take a picture of still.

During my first Russia trip in St Petersburg I was looking for a present for Bob...my mothers boyfriend.  He is bald, with a goatee type guy.  Of course he looks like Lenin.  I bought him a white chocolate Lenin as his gift from my vacation trip.  Told him it was a chocolate "Bob".

Someone told him it was Lenin later.  Damn them!

He still hasn't eaten it yet.  This is 3 years later!
Look, we're gonna spend half the night driving around the Hills looking for this one party and you're going to say it sucks and we're all gonna leave and then we're gonna go look for this other party. But all the parties and all the bars, they all suck. <-Same goes for forums!

You have a Fender, and you don't even know about that "famous 1994 fire"?

http://www.entrepreneur.com/tradejournals/article/15687115.html

I've been told the wood has to "wait" before being turned into a REAL GOOD guitar for 20, sometimes 30 years; thus "pre-fire" Fenders are valued much more than "post-fire" ones...  ::)

(1870-1924)
Location: Houston Street between Avenues A and B
Sculptor: Yuri Gerasimov
Year installed: 1994

A few years after Russians pulled down statues of Vladimir I. Lenin, founder of the Russian Communist Party, leader of the Russian Revolution of 1917, and architect and builder of the Soviet state, a statue of him appeared in the East Village. Note the 'crazy clock' with misplaced numbers adjacent to Lenin.

Both are part of an apartment complex called "Red Square." The clock is officially known as "Askew". The clock covers a water tower; the design is based on a watch featured in a MoMA collection.

The statue was purchased by Walker, Ursitti and McGinniss, Inc. from sculptor Gerasimov in 1993 and was placed on the roof of "Red Square" in 1994 with permission of co-owner Michael Rosen.

Since "Don's" thread has been getting neglected I thought I'd add a bump and a Lenin to the mix.

Here are some pics of Lennin infront of the Vitebsk, BY Philharmonic concert hall on Ulitsa Lenin.
