I am trying o get the Russian National Anthem, audio only.

I've got the original commie version sung by the Red Army Choir. If that's what you're looking for, I'll email you the mp3.

I also have an symphonic version, and some version from Rocky IV.  :scared0005:

Ok. I found this site where you can download all kinds of versions of the current National Anthem, the short lived Patriotic Song and the commie versions and even God Save the Tsar if you want that.

Voice of Russia
From it's historic and prestigious studio center in Moscow, Voice of Russia is the Russian government's premier International broadcast service.  This is Russia's version of the BBC.  There are many 'channels' to choose from so we've linked one but you can go to the website for more options: http://www.ruvr.ru/index.php?lng=eng
http://www.medinalia.com/play/Voice of Russia/4681

Echo Radio-Moscow
Until recently this 24 hour Talk station was truly 'independent' from government control.  Recently a company named Gazprom purchased it.  You've heard of Gazprom--the company which owns businesses in everything from oil to manufacturing to media, and in which new Russian President Medvedev is Chairman and Prime Minister Putin is a major stockholder.  We'll wait and see about Echo's 'independence.'
http://audio.rambler.ru/player.html?id=807

Relax FM-Moscow
This is a sister station to Echo Talk and broadcasts a lot of English language programmes.  The music is very gentle and relaxing--American and European soft jazz and easy listening.  The brief commercial breaks are in Russian but other than that, one could listen for hours and never know that this station was not in Salt Lake City or Orlando!  Even the station-ID jingles are in English.
http://radiotime.com/WebTuner.aspx?StationId=67815&

Maximum Radio-Samara
Plays a mix of Oldies to current Pop, American to Euro to Russian.
http://www.max.samara.ru/old/samara.ram

Avtoradio-Moscow (Auto Radio)
Pop and Dance contemporary hits.
http://www.avtoradio.ru/?an=r_online

Gala Radio-Kiev
One of the best stations in Ukraine with a nice variety of Ukrainian and Russian pop music.
http://live.galaradio.com:8000/kiev.m3u

Gorod Radio-Ekaterinaburg (City Radio)
A bit of everything from Russian to American music, pop to dance to rock.
http://www.gorodfm.ru:8000/gorod.m3u

Europa Plus-Moscow
All dance and pop hits--a very well designed radio station.  Very popular in Russia.  If you like this kind of music this station is 'very easy on the ears.'
http://www.radio.comcor-tv.ru/playlist/radio.m3u?station=europaplus&stream=48

Radio Culture (Культура)-Moscow
Classical music.  One of the nicest and most pleasant stations when you're ready to relax.

Radio Manhattan-Ufa
This stations wishes it was in London.  A distinctly British English feel to both the announcers and the music.  Some Russian pop, but the British invasion has come to Russia.

Ukrainian Television

Most of the stations listed below offer the option to watch a some free TV or you may subscribe to a larger selection broadcasts for a small monthly fee.

Of the free TV stations below several do not offer live streaming, however you can watch video segments.  You'll often be looking for a small icon indicating a video is available or for one of these two Ukrainian terms:
1)  ВІДЕО =  Video
2) видеофрагмент = Video fragment

Channel 1+1
Watch Internet TV from Ukraine's Channel 1+1 Television:

This link is to 1+1 News.  Select from the feature options at the player and then click the start arrow/button when ready to view:  http://iplus.com.ua/video/video-novini/#media_id

Even if you don't read Ukrainian you can see lots of feature video options with a small camera which look like this
Thru the entire website you'll see the little red cameras.  Clock on the little icon and watch that feature.

СТБ Television, Kiev
http://www.stb.ua/e107_plugins/videotv/videotv.php
Here you can watch lots of news, sports and features.  Just click anywhere you see a feature or story and with a little experimentation you can get the hang of it fairly quick.

Through a link posted here, my wife and I found a great place to watch Russian movies online. If you go to the site www.limon-online.ru and ignore all the pop ups and ads for porn, you can click on online movies to the left and the "отечественные" movies to the right. You then have the option of watching a couple hundred Russian movies, some from this year. The connection speed is excellent: you can watch the movies without the playing pausing or stopping for the film to continue downloading.

Television in Ukraine

Television and radio programming in Ukraine provides regular news broadcasts and basic information about Ukraine and international affairs in both Russian and Ukrainian. Children's programs and coverage of domestic and international sports events are usually good, but a knowledge of either Russian or Ukraine is also required. There are some programs in English broadcast by CNBC Superchannel in the mornings, but the programming is not always regular.

The Ukrainian system is SECAM DK with a 6.5 megahertz audio-video separation. You should have a multisystem TV to be able to review local programs as well as VCR's with MTSC, PAL, and SECAM DK capability. Multisystem television sets should be programmed to receive SECAM SK. Japanese and other foreign sets are on sale at a number of stores.

The most popular television is 1 + 1 channel, which broadcasts on the same wavelength as the National Ukrainian Channel 1. One plus One broadcasts recent Western movies, although they are all voice-over in Russian or Ukrainian, along with other programs.

Kiev

Most hotels in Kiev and private rental apartments provide satellite TV, so that visitors to this capital city can view programs in their native language.

Newspapers in Kiev

The only English language newspapers in Kiev are the Kiev Post and the Kiev Weekly. Both of these publications come out weekly, and are available free of charge at most restaurants frequented by foreigners.

The Ukrainian newspapers, written in either Ukrainian or Russian, contain information on local issues, politics, events, celebrations, people, business, accommodations, shopping, bargains and weather.

Information about holidays, vacations, resorts, real estate and property together with finance, stock market and investments reports, theater, movies, culture, entertainment, activities and events are all covered in Ukrainian newspapers.

The oldest English language newspaper in Kiev,  has a website at:

Kiev Post - www.Kievpost.com

Foreign newspapers such as The New York Times, Herald Tribune and the Wall Street Journal are flown in daily and are available in some of the better quality hotels.

In Kiev you can buy a number of English language publications, it is also true you can find some of these in some of the larger cities of Ukraine such as Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk etc.

Just wondering: is anybody else watching on Mondays "One-storied America" by Vladimir Pozner and Ivan Urgant on ORT?

I find it quite funny and educative...

Leaving Russia is not an emigration, rather an evacuation.

I still can not read Russian well enough to see what it is about.

Can you tell me what the stories are about?

Back in 1935 two Russian writers, Ильф & Петров, arrived to New York with a purpose to go to West Coast by car, and come back to New York via southern states. They described what they've seen in a book entitled "One-story America" (Одноэтажная Америка).

Now 2 popular TV-moderators, 72 y.o. Vladimir Pozner (the one who moderated, back ain 1986, the TV-bridge where the phrase "There is no sex in USSR" has been born) and his much younger colleague Ivan Urgant are repeating Ильф & Петров's journey.

Though, instead of the book, their travel notes are presented as 16 45-minutes episodes.

Today's one was about Sun City (55+), Es Paso, Texas farmers and southern passion for religion and guns.
Leaving Russia is not an emigration, rather an evacuation.
