I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "business approach" to meeting someone, I looked very carefully at all the information given before I decided who to write to, not just look at the pictures. I didn't want to start a relationship with someone who smoked, or was too young, or didn't want children etc, because I knew that it would not be a good match.
Read a bit more of these forums and you'll see what I mean :-) It's too long to explain. I am sure you can understand yourself in some time :-) Especially this is not on the topic - not about crazies.

Oops! soory. :offtopic:  ;D

I think I basically agree with what you are saying, pehaps what i understand is that both man and woman of course need to connect with feelings, but must be "sensible" {not exactly "Businesslike"} when meeting someone for the first time, to avoid the "crazies".

See? Now we are almost back on topic!  :)

I just wonder why would psychically healthy man be unable to communicate to woman directly and needs to be introduced and even pay money for this  :P  Normal man men don't need agencies. Only a few of them go to agencies and if go then only to agencies which offer only introduction and translation services.

I think the purpose of almost all of the legitimate agencies is to make an "introduction", either by forwarding an e-mail, letter, giving an address
or perhaps arranging a meeting with a translator if she does not speak very well in English.

I don't agree with you about "don't need agencies", if we did not use an agency to get contact information how would we find someone? Free personals? There are more crazies and scammers there I would think...

For me, well, i just liked the idea of being able to meet someone in a quicker way (the net). In my town or on the other side of the planet. You can get alot of instant info this way about the person, ie. "smoker", etc. I've had many people over the years say to me "you could meet some crazy person on the internet!". What a ridiculous comment that is. I am very thankful for this ability to meet people/women because it has produced for me a person i would have never found in a lifetime of grocery shopping and bar hopping. And if you are serious about it, finding "the one", it will happen. Of course, you have to be on your toes and pay attention to the other persons behavior/personality. I had my little hidden test for my girl in the beginning, as i am sure she had for me, and after a year of "interrogations".... we finally met. Talk about caution!! I am grateful that she found me not to be a "crazy guy". It's a jungle out there but you can survive with logic and common sense. Alas, some have no options.
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. (Roosevelt, i believe)

The talk started that everyone should be careful and aware there are crazy people in internet and not to reveal all personal information about her/himself, ie. not to give out real name right away, real address, bank account number. It's not that everyone is crazy person.

The talk started because some men requested woman showing real name in email address, suggesting otherwise she is a scammer. The talk about crazy guys started to show that not telling personal details right away is natural caution which has reasons to exist when communicating in internet.

Very sensible too. I  Any "personal details" would not help to prevent scams IMO, as a scammer could easily make a fake e-mail "OlgaScammer@mail.ru"  The only "personal" information she should give out is her phone #.  The best way to find out if she is real is to talk on the phone and exchange e-mails...

I would recommend that every women protect herself, her address and her identity until she determines that a man isn't a pervert or a danger to her.

any clear simple instruction for women exists how to do that?)))))))))))))))))  ;D

Yes, use a handle not your own name. List your country but not your city.
Ask many questions and get to know someone before you give someone your personal information.

IT specialists are not crazy, they are just nerds and will not chase women, will not hunt scammers, will not create images from people. Maybe only Coding Wizard had some psychological problems  ;D

anjutka & alenika:

Ladies, please may I disagree with you.  The basic rule about posting images of yourself on the WWW, 'once on the web it cannot be taken off the web, ever'.
anjutka, if your avatar is really you, there is software available, easily obtainable for any knowledgeable person (IT nerd for example) that could clean up that image so that the picture is quite recognizable.
anjutka, remember the person who found out about you through your ICQ, he's a hacker, he breaks into IT sites, someone like him could be dangerous.
Ask any of the IT people on this forum, IT nerds can be quite crazy, and they know how to use the web to hurt women or men.
Do not take the posting of personal information on the web lightly, protect yourself.
