Мексидол (Mexidol) Tablets - Anyone Familiar With Them?
« on: September 19, 2019, 06:16:15 AM »
Anyone married whose wife visits home will be familiar with the Russian pharmaceuticals that inevitably arrive back with them when they come back.

On a recent visit, these Мексидол tablets have arrived at Chez Manny.

Also known as Emoxypine or Mexifin.

Poking around Russian sites seems to suggest that people believe they cure everything apart from a wooden leg.  :chuckle:

Wikipedia says this:

Quote
In Russia, emoxypine has a wide range of applications in medical practice. It purportedly exercises anxiolytic, anti-stress, anti-alcohol, anticonvulsant, nootropic, neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory action. Emoxypine presumably improves cerebral blood circulation, inhibits thrombocyte aggregation, lowers cholesterol levels, has cardioprotective and antiatherosclerotic action.

It also says this:

Quote
It is not approved for any medical use in the United States or Europe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emoxypine

Now I'm not one to automatically pooh pooh Russian pharmaceuticals, many of them are rather good and very effective. However, I cant find very much out about this one in terms of clinical tests and if it *actually* does any of the things claimed.

Does anyone know anything about these?

I don't know the stuff, but it is an antioxidant so in the context of woo-woo medicine it is good for everything from anti-cancer to anti-depression.

It seems that rats find it to be an anti-anxiolytic when they are stressed.

The same rats found it helped their diabetes.

It won't kill you.

You can buy it on Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DM6C4CX/
...everything ends always well; if it’s still bad, then it’s not the end!

Woo woo medicine is medicine that follows the scientific system of woo woo. Woo woo is similar to magic, that is many people believe in it but there is no evidence to support the belief.

Similar to diet pills, pills to make you more intelligent, instant cures for almost anything that the people selling it use words such as 'believed to', 'supports' or 'may enhance' when describing the efficacy of the product.

So, for this stuff, many people believe it does all sorts of almost magical stuff.

You can even buy from Amazon in the US the same stuff in the same packaging: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y5LZWGL/

Tell your little friend that Viagra is not based upon woo woo and, for many men reduces their impotence.

You might also want to tell your little friend to ask his bigger friend to go to the doctor as impotence is often a symptom of another, more serious, condition.
