American Football Game of the Week
« on: November 04, 2018, 05:41:29 PM »
The unbeaten (until now) Los Angeles Rams traveled to New Orleans to play the Saints, in what was a very high scoring game!  The Saints held out and when the score was tied 35 to 35 near the end, the Saints scored 10 points to end the game.

The Packers and Patriots were tied 17-17 after three quarters of play and the Packers were moving down the field at the start of the 4th quarter, then proceeded to fumble the ball away and things went downhill from there.  :chuckle:  12 on 12 talked about each other before the game.

My hometown Seattle Seahawks started the season great but lost today to the Los Angeles Rams, in LA. A few odd mistakes from QB Russell Wilson.

https://www.espn.com/blog/seattle-seahawks/post/_/id/34541/seahawks-lose-nfc-west-lead-after-russell-wilson-exceeds-margin-for-error

Also today the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won against the Carolina Panthers.

For the UK guys who don't know, Tom Brady left New England for sunnier skies. Much to the disappointment of Cufflinks. Tom's wife being from Brazil may have had something to do with it.

I am aware of that but I still support my team. And you? Are you a Texans fan?

Thankfully not.

I've been a Cowboys fan since the 1977, year two of the Seahawks franchise in
the NFL, when the Cowpokes sent a first and three second round picks to the
Seahawks for the second overall pick of the draft. Dallas selected future hall
of famer Tony Dorset and won the superbowl that year.

Too bad he didn't want to play for Seattle. So how would that have worked if Seattle didn't trade him and instead had selected him? Would he have been required to play for Seattle?

I think we were robbed.

It's a silly bluff 99% of the time. The player would have to sit out an entire year
and go back into the draft. Bo Jackson was selected #1 overall by Tampa Bay did
it and played baseball for a year but then he was drafted in the 6th Round the
next year. It almost never works out.

So with 20/20 hindsight Seattle should have stuck to their guns and drafted him.

He was such a dynamic player I'm sure he could have helped us more than what we got in return helped us. At least that's my opinion. And Seattle is such a great town (or at least it was back then) that I'm sure it would have grown on him. I used to live a few blocks away from where the expansion Seahawks practiced at that time!

Check out the photo in the middle.

Bill you're old enough to remember this guy. He could have been great, well he was great at Oklahoma. He didn't want to play for Seattle either. Who knows, maybe if he had played for a different team, things could have turned out differently for him. But that wasn't his destiny.

One has to admire T. Brady, while most quarterbacks his age are sitting in broadcast booths giving commentary. He is on the field winning games.

Bill you're old enough to remember this guy.

Yeah,

Brian Bosworth, the guy who was paid more per year than Lawrence Taylor,
Who could have predicted that a guy with size 9 feet wasn't going to the
hall of fame?

He did look good coming out of Oklahoma

He certainly did, after all he's the only guy to win the Butkus award as the best College linebacker, not once but twice.

His small feet did not effect his speed at all, in fact he was very quick. I don't agree that he was a bust in the NFL either, after all that seems to indicate that he didn't play hard which isn't true.

Technically he may have been a bust in that his body gave out and he didn't last long in the NFL. He got there though didn't he? That's far more than most can say.

This is a great video with a great song!

PS  Notre Dame wanted him to play tight end. Who knows how that would have panned out if he had played that position in the NFL??

I know that. And he won a Super Bowl with the Raiders.

I just don't recall watching him coaching anything although I was watching a bit of Seahawks and others at the time.

Controversial Tampa Bay Wide Receiver Antonio Brown loses his mind during an NFL game at the New York Jets. I should say former Tampa Bay WR Antonio Brown because Bucs head coach Arians immediately released him and went so far as to say that Brown wasn't even welcome to fly back from NY to Tampa on the team flight! Brown got upset about something, took off his pads and then after Arians told him to put them back on and get back in the game he refused, tore off his jersey and then his undershirt, did some jumping jacks and then ran out of the stadium!

Some are saying in the comments section that this hit to Brown when he was a Stealer is causing him problems due to possible CTE of the brain. I don't know if that is the case but it's definitely a brutal hit.

This is funny. This guy thinks he can replace Antonio Brown. He probably could, at least for a few games.
