Honestly, it looks like a slightly modified 1978 Lada

That's not a Lada shell, but the shape does look vaguely familiar. Fiat perhaps?

It does look more like a Fiat, my point wasn't really related to Lada,
it was that it didn't look like a cutting edge new age design.

As I recall the Fiat* 128 was the basis of the Lada as well as the Yugo.

To me it looks like an extended version of a Trabant, well as long as it does not smoke. Would be curious to know about the technology, and is this 'model' a skin for something more interesting under the hood so to speak.

My first thought was does it come with an AK-47 to fix it or put it out of misery. When I read the news it said 350 km range, that is over 200 miles and is quite decent.

The image has been incorrectly reported in English language media. The vehicle is a test platform for the systems being designed and tested by the company, not a representation of a vehicle that will ever be sold.

According to representatives of Kalashnikov: The concept car CV-1, shown at the "Army-2018" exhibition is "a test bench for the developed complex systems."

The platform is the old IZH Kombi. Here is an image of that car:

As can be seen, this is not any kind of retro design for a new car but an actual old car polished up for its display at the exhibition.

Info about the thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Izh_2125

The planned specs for the project are as follows: The battery capacity of the car is 90 kWh, powered by a "revolutionary inverter", the dimensions of which are 50x50x100 cm. Power output will be up to 1.2 kW. The rated power of the CV-1 is 220 kW, the peak power is 500 kW. Cruising range will be 350 km.
...everything ends always well; if it’s still bad, then it’s not the end!

If I am not mistaken CV and it went from 1 to 6 was the name of the so-called Deux Chevaux of Citroën. An iconic car that in Europe rivaled the so-called VW Bug. In the Netherlands it is referred to as 'Lelijke' Eendje (Ugly Duckling).

Another new electric car.

https://www.topspeed.com/cars/fisker/index238.html

Fisker has a new automotive startup, and even a new model to go with it. It’s called the EMotion, and it’s framed as a luxurious all-electric four-door with quick performance, groundbreaking solid-state battery technology, and upwards of 400 miles of range per charge, not to mention supercar good looks and Level 4 self-driving capability.

Note the solid state batteries. These batteries hold are three time the charge per pound of Lithium ion batteries. They can be charged very fast. These batteries will likely end gasoline as a fuel source over the next decade.
3) There has been no "threat" to invade Ukraine. The US invented that and fed it to a complicit media.

It seems Fisker has been working on this since 2011. He seems to have as much success as G. W. Bush at managing the economy as his car business. Looking at the corporate history it is everything but sterling.

I must admit though that the design is cool. The claims though is 1 minute to obtain 400 miles range. I doubt it! Simply impossible, presently.

Frisker has building cars since 2011 but the solid state battery technology is much newer than that. Whether Frisker makes any money or not the solid state battery will likely become an important part of our lives in the not so distant future.

Audi is also building a car with solid state batteries.

https://electrek.co/2018/08/24/audi-pb18-e-tron-all-electric-supercar-prototype/

https://www.autoblog.com/2018/07/10/hyundai-solid-state-battery-ionic-materials/

Quote from article: "Toyota says it will have solid state batteries in cars by 2022. Fisker is also aiming for early 2020s for its own solid-state batteries. Honda, Nissan, BMW and VW are all reportedly working on solid-state batteries, too. Perhaps what's most surprising is that there aren't more companies openly developing the technology, since solid-state batteries eliminate flammable liquid electrolytes, and they promise the potential of more capacity and faster charging times."

Battery technology is changing and accelerating in development. The greater issue is delivery.

What the future batteries look like and deliver is a guess, there are other firms with different ideas. Who will win ? ? ? your bet is as good as mine.

The greater question will electric engines displace gas/diesel and my answer is not while we are driving. Will they gain market share yes.

An interesting topic is the electric car race in Australia, in some ways it points to a/the future.

It is worth noting as horseless carriages developed electric vehicles were common. In the end combustion engine driven cars won.

Will the electric powered vehicle become prevalent today or tomorrow, I have my doubts. But there is an IBM CEO commenting regarding personal computers a while back.

There already is a new battery technology that far surpasses li-ion what we use now, the only problem it has is that its operating temperature is so far capped at a minimum of 150C and can't go below that :(

Russian weapons company unveils 13-foot tall 'gold killer robot'

A well-known Russian weapons manufacturing company has unveiled a 13-foot golden walking killer robot that looks like something out of "RoboCop."

Kalashnikov Concern presented a large, strange-looking bulletproof robot that’s in development at the Army 2018 fair near Moscow and posted a video of the machine on its website.

The article is interesting for the fact that Kalashnikov has gone over to gorilla style marketing. The vehicle is a bit of a PR stunt

I suspect someone will eventually much like computers devise a quantum leap with electric vehicles.

It is guerrilla marketing, and no it isn't.

The owner of the business is number 2 in the defence ministry for procurement. Kalashnikov is already supplying the military with 2 types of electric vehicles the company is not a newcomer to the field.

With regard to the two legged beastie, this fits with current military thinking but is a novel implementation. What happens in Russia is that companies often develop initial designs for systems and show them off in the hope of getting a contract for development, evaluation and subsequent serial production.

It is the novelty of the second machine that has attracted western attention, particularly linked to a name that is well known even in the United States. I bet that neither the electric vehicle mule or the latter device would have been so readily featured if the manufacturer was called Uralvagonzavod.

Of course the Western media liked to be able to (purposefully) misrepresent the automobile mule as some kind of throwback based on the appearance of the device rather than as as a development springing from class leading technology already in use in Russia.
