Hopefully the East Coast gents are all okay. B/B?

Alive and well.

Flew in from Cali last night and, under the circumstances, had an *amazingly* smooth landing at JFK - most inbounds had been diverted but we arrived at the right window.

Got home to no power and my backup generator had failed to start so the inside of the house was like 57F/14C.  It was 11pm, so I hunkered down and then flipped the canopy on the Generac in daylight and got it running, and then power was restored by the utility later in the day today.

Lots of downed trees and wires.  On the plus side, I don't have to take down a couple of trees that were damaged in the last storm, because this storm finished them off.

Those falling trees can be very deadly! If you read the link I posted most of the deaths were from falling trees. Glad you made it home safely.

A young lad who lived near Richmond, VA died when a tree crashed into his home as he was sleeping in a bedroom during the high winds.  A freak accident as noted by his grandmother.  You never know when you will be at the wrong place at the wrong time.   :GRAVE:

I've heard plenty of people tell me they would prefer to die in their sleep, but somehow I don't think that's what they're talking about. Whoever came up with the "grave" emoji deserves an award, by the way.

Lost electricity for almost 72 hours. Since the temperatures were in the low 30's to mid 40's F. All was good. The actual storm was amazing to track and observe. Intense and very local with a more or less North/South snow line. I had to travel on Sunday to the Cape from Western CT. For a long time no evidence of anything and suddenly in RI very heavy damage was apparent. I heard all the bridges were closed and pretty much everything stopped this appeared to be the reality to the Cape.

In 48 hours we might see 24 inches of snow.

Here we go . . . again.

First a couple to six inches now eight to 12 inches and wind speed expectations are at 30 knots.

So how many shovels of snow shovels does a shoveler need to shovel to see one snow cunny?

The 2nd Nor’easter has hit and 800,000 people are without power. Stay safe and don’t sleep under large trees.

No power, but the stove is on propane so I will survive. Lots of candles.

Approximately 30 inches of snow but less than 50 miles away less than ten inches.

I suspect the interesting question is; what will spike in 36 or so months?

Europe had a major snow storm recently, even Rome got snow.   :eeekk:

I went on a business trip to Philly right after New Year's day in the 1990s and over two feet of snow dropped when I was there.  Luckily my hotel was right across the street from the work place and I changed hotels from my first location (several miles away) as the snow storm got more intense over the weekend.  After the snow stopped on Monday, I meandered my way across the main road (which was deserted due to the heavy snow blocking the road) over to the building.  There were guys clearing the snow from the parking lot and stunned to see someone coming to the building. I had no other place to go, so I thought why not see if the building was open?  It was open, but the inside was deserted, of course.  My only companion was a bird that got into the vacant building.   ;D

Watch out!  The 3rd Noreaster is heading towards New England on early Wednesday and is expected to dump another foot of snow on top of the previous storms.  :-\

The long range forecast for next week says that yet another Noreaster may be in the works.   :sick0012: :duh:

The first band of snow is reaching New England as I type. Expected are between 10 and 50 cms. Allot of this depression is far to the West and it could be long white day, the first day of spring!

My area had more snow yesterday than in the previous 25 months.   :chuckle:

Looks like next week will turn warmer, so the possibility of a White Easter is slim.

I'm dreaming of a white Easter..  just like the ones I used to know....

Great big nothingburger where I am.  My plow guy didn't even have to turn up.  I was going to travel for the weekend but skipped it because of weather - still a percentage move giving how snarled the airports were.  With a weather waiver, I actually got a bit back on my replacement trip next month.  Not bad.

I usually plan my travel to avoid any weather related issues.  I have not traveled during January-February when snow storms are more common.  I also avoid the late August to September period due to hurricane season.  Note that this involves personal travel.  I have traveled for business during these months due to work travel requirements.  Luckily, very few of those trips had to be rescheduled.  Only one time due to the morning fog.   :duh:

While not a Northeaster, forecast last night was for a few inches. We are up to eight or so inches with another 2 hours or so of precipitation

Got nothing (not even rain) from the last cold front.  I think that it will be the last chance of snow in my area.  New snow blower left in storage for two years and not needed.   :duh:

New England is getting a massive amount of rain today. Like over an inch and strong winds.

Today is the Boston Marathon. In the for what it is worth department an American was the winner for the women. Sort of understandable the Africans do not even train in the rain.

The summer has been hot especially August, but there is a likelihood the East Coast will meet Florence the hurricane next week.

No not the ancient city of Italy.

A hurricane and it will most likely be seriously fugly for North Carolina, and the coast 200 miles on either side where the eye comes ashore. Category 4 hurricanes are rare this far North making a Continental landfall.

If you get something like Hurricane Andrew on the east coast again, it will look like a war zone.    :scared0005: :o

Florence, went from a small but powerful Category 4 hurricane to a mega 2/3 storm. The fear is the devastation along the coast will be heavy but inland it will be epic.

If some are curious how a hurricane looks to NOAA here is a good starting point.
