Anastasia going down?
« on: March 01, 2018, 07:50:30 AM »
My fiancee told me she either read or heard on the news, that the government was cracking down on AnastasiaDate, and may even go as far as to arrest the women who were working there. About time they reign in these scam sites!

Arrest the website operators?  I would like to see that.

But I would think that there are male owners associated with the business.  As for arresting every female profile on the site, that is not likely to happen.

AnastasiaDate is a part of the portfolio of ventures owned by Social Discovery Ventures. SDV, whilst Russian owned and based, has offices around the world.

As a small part of SDV's investment operations, and only acquired in 2017, I'd lay dollars to doughnuts that ADate could, and would be, be jettisoned easily if required. That's what a business like SDV does - makes investments, profits from the good and jettisons the bad.

The idea that the owners of SDV would be arrested for running a dating site is risible.

Somebody's woman has been telling somebody about stuff she knows absolutely nothing about.

Haven't taken much of an interest in the dating sites for five years and it was news that they were part of SDV...

"Russian owned" ? I'm sure the Israel and Chinese partner would be interested to hear that

Interesting what you find on Wiki, though

"In 2013, AnastasiaDate launched its first mobile app on iTunes and Google Play for Apple Inc. and Android devices. The company alleged in a US Federal Court in New York complaint that EM Online had created two websites, anastasiadatefraud.com and ruadventures.com, to broadcast fabricated, negative testimonials, but the complaint was dismissed.

Moby, just do the reading, and remember, this is another room in which you are not the smartest person.  :'(

Oh, to help your understanding, as an example, you might refer to your crotch scratcher as your partner, but that does not make you Russian; or she, British, Irish or whatever you choose to represent yourself as these days.

This was dealt with at the time, and discussed here at the time.

AnastasiaDate is a part of the portfolio of ventures owned by Social Discovery Ventures. SDV, whilst Russian owned and based, has offices around the world.

After Elena Besuden and her boyfriend Dan Sykes screwed over her husband (David - the guy who brought her to the USA on a fiancee visa and who died pennyless) out of his share of the extremely profitable investment, in 2011 they sold Anastasia International to a private investor who sold it to a company called Social Discovery Ventures.  Fortune reported the company had revenues of $110 million in 2012.

I'm sure they banked a tidy profit from the sale with which they they bought a really nice beachfront estate in Maine and have been living the good life ever since.  Not bad for a for a moderately attractive but smart girl from Ukraine who barely had 2 kopeks to rub together when she met David in 1991.

Anastasia was quoted by an executive of the dating company to be expecting revenues in the order of $110 million as a result of their restructuring and new, at the time, marketing campaign. SDV's revenues will have been much, much higher but, as a private company, their revenues are not, the best of my knowledge, publicly available.
