Markje, given that his lies on this matter were known about yonks ago how come it has only now come to be an issue?
Is this a political assassination given his recent promotion to foreign minister?
Any connection to his, now canceled, meeting with Lavrov in Moscow?
...everything ends always well; if it’s still bad, then it’s not the end!

The reason this came up now, is because a main-stream-media outlet kept on digging until mr. liar had no more excuses except to admit that :

First: Yes, I lied about having experienced it personally , but my source did and i will protect his identity
Second: Oh my source came forward himself and denied it all, putin never said it.
Third: Oh ehhhh ehhh ehhh I Resign!

A) He lied about it
B) He had negligable foreign experience without this
C) He was judged and felt 'wanting'

So he had to resign.

Lastly, his lies were known to the informed people who know how Russia/Putin works. But the large majority of Netherlands whom read only the Dutch papers never knew until last night.

Putin HAS referred to 'novorossiya' and 'malorossiya' - which include part of other present day states

Quoting wiki "Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, there have been attempts to revive Novorossiya, the most significant of which has been the pro-Russian separatist movement to create a Novorossiyan confederation with the subsequent War in Donbass."

The NL FO may have lied what he heard - but I have heard VVP state that the 'people of Novorossiya have  a right to self-determination"..

( even though the Chechens weren't and a law stopped this being promoted in RF media ) ...Just how black ARE some folks pots ?

Spurious claims about 'seeing action' with the Blue Berets are debunked >here<

“Caught out” sounds much better.

Thanks for posting the interesting article.

It was the timing that made me think it might have been a political assassination. I understand that most folks don't know what really went on so they only know what is going on from the national media and they only ran the story now for a reason because, well, if I knew about the guys 'unfortunate errors' a long time ago then so did the national media. The FM will have known that too and would have been expecting a kill shot at some point. :)
