Eye-witnesses say it was in pieces - BEFORE it hit the ground - an explosion

I fly because I assume I won’t be on that flight. But it could always happen. With all the general umcomfort besides, God I hate flying.

I'm sorry to learn of this horrible event. Hopefully this crash was nothing more than a tragic accident which can be studied and in some way enhance the safety of future aircraft operations.

Mr Putin has postponed a planned trip to Sochi to closely monitor the investigation of the crash.

So, instead of going golfing (obama) , Putin has cancelled a state-trip to meet with leaders of the world, so he can closely monitor this tragedy's investigation.

According to Russian news (not in the AU source), he asked his peers to meet him in Moscow instead.

Markje,

Most leaders drop meeting when such disasters happen - esp. near an election

It is the wrong bloke. The Rosatom guy was not on the plane.

That was the lesson learned after Kursk. On that occasion Putin, in error, stayed away and gave the impression of a lack of involvement or care on his part.

It may well be that anything that he can do could be done from Sochi but sometimes appearances are important.

Re: Russia jet carrying 71 people crashes after Moscow take-off- pilot error

Hear we go again: ' pilot error'?

https://themoscowtimes.com/news/pilot-error-likely-cause-of-deadly-plane-crash-near-moscow-60494

I'm not an aviation expert - but let's say this version is correct - why are eye-witnesses saying the plane was on fire /  breaking up / heard an explosion ( mid air)  - BEFORE it hit the ground?

Note in the article below - the authorities report the plane was intact before impact

https://themoscowtimes.com/articles/the-sorry-state-of-russian-aviation-safety-60475

Either way, Russia has got an extraordinary 'safety' history ((

I know for sure in Russia I will only fly Aeroflot or S7 will not step on board any other plane, way to risky!! I enjoy my life thanks and don't fancy being blown to 200 bits!!  Better to take the train to some far off place if no reputable airlines going that way, I would rather sit on a train for 3 days than get on board any plane from those doggy airlines..

I don't even trust taxi drivers here, Im always in the brace position in the back seat , foot secure on the floor and head away from the drivers! I always manage the safety side of things how ever many whiskies I have had! Not nice being out on a cold -15 road in the winter with broken neck..always prepared..
