The RAF no doubt, gave the Germans their first bloody nose in 1940 during WW2 and no finer display team than the Red Arrows now...

Here is Annushka's song, 'Officer' live from the Kremlin.

A discussion about Soviet pilots would be incomplete without mentioning the "night witches," as the Germans called them.

Those girls would fly slow, obsolete, unarmored aircraft in the dark of night without navigation equipment or parachutes. They were hated and feared by the Nazis because they were relentless and unstoppable. They would ignore anti-aircraft fire, engage in dogfights with technologically superior German aircraft and would even ram them in the air as a last resort. Despite the movies that were made about them, most Westerners have never heard of them.

Next to Svetlana in the photo Nikolai Anisimov. He's Maestro. His song "I'm a Pilot" I used in my video.

Tom cat here,

just making a couple posts until I can pm Manny to get my  login info. My phone died, and having a  bugger of  a time  retrieving all my  info.

ISIS may have lost a large percentage of it's territory,  but Russia had a  big  role in making that happen.

If true, Russia had one of it's biggest losses since it arrived in Syria.

There does seem to be some 'confusion' here. Pics have been shown that definitely did not come from the attack site. The Russians tend, these days, to be pretty open about such matters and they say that the Komersant story is exaggerated.

It does seem that the attack was not just a mortar attack though and that incoming rockets were successfully intercepted with a single incoming missile not downed but landing outside the base.

And, yes, it does suit the agenda of some media outlets to big up the story - any bad news about Russia being good news and all that.

As a final note: the Colonel Cassad site claims that there was some damage to some planes and that site is not known for being a nest of liars sharing unfounded reports.

Another gas attack?

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-43686157

There are a couple tweets from DT indicating Russia is to blame for allowing this to happen.

Oddly enough not picked up by US news as it does not fit the scenario that Donald Dump is in bed with Vladimir Hulio. The reality is yet again it is civilians that have to 'pay' the price.

Russia has abandoned its centuries-long aspirations of integrating into the West

You mean Russia has been trying to integrate with the west since the Bolshevik Revolution?   ???
Then why were you putting up the Iron Curtain, Bamboo Curtain, Berlin wall?
Now you expect to become more isolated than in the early 20th century?   :chuckle: (:)
