Funny as ... fck..

Came out here late October ...  WHY are you guys, stateside - having to wait SO long...

Some great acting - particularly Jeremy Issacs and Zhukov and an actress from the NE of England playing Svetlana - Stalin's daughter...

PLUS Berdyansk's very own Bond Girl Olga Kurylenko - a must see

According to IMD it came out in the UK on October 20th this year.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4686844/

It does look pretty funny!

I recently seen a BBC biography film of Stalin and it started with his death. People were so frightened to enter his room that he laid on the floor soaked in his own urine from a stroke he had at least 12 hours before. It was a great way for him to go.

The first 2 minutes 40 seconds

"Stalin had built an empire on a framework of terror justifying it in the name of a political faith. And through it he ruled his country, his government, his party and his family. He even terrorized the doctors he needed so badly. Now there was no one left, no wife, no child, no lover, no friend who was brave enough to enter the private world of Josef Stalin. He become a victim of his own terror."

She played a Hispanic woman in that Bond movie.   ???  They should have chosen Sofia Vergara for the role.   :chuckle:

In 2007/8 maybe so, but Sofia Vergara is really starting to show her age of late, IMO.

Very unfortunately, the Cultural Ministry here in Russia has taken offence to it and pulled the license. I was looking forward to seeing it in the cinema ....

Yes, she does not look as young as before.  Can you imagine how the scene with Daniel Craig could look like?  "James, come here and give me a big fat KEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS".   :KISSSS:

Maybe it might be showing in one of the EU countries that you can take a quick trip to see it?

My mom occasionally watches 'Modern Family' and Vergara's voice just drives me nuts. I'd take a Slavic accent any day over a SA accent, but I'll tell you that even with Slavic women, the accent doesn't do much for me (I mention that at all because it seems that to a lot of guys, the accent is a major attraction factor). Of course the "accents" of the body are a different matter entirely.

Bummer. Does this mean that when it comes out on disc the sale won't be permitted in Russia, or just for theater viewing?

Could the cultural ministry be run by Stalin fans?

The film is of course viewable on the many sites Russians use to pirate movies and is now prob. more popular due to it's being banned

On what basis was it restricted?

Had to watch this aloft, it was indeed hilarious! If they could have pulled P. Sellers out of the grave might have even been top 10.

For the benefit of doubt Ste is speaking tongue in cheek? I suspect even FiFi would chuckle.
