After having seen much of Europe this and last month, I suspect the following will be the reality shortly.

Ms. le Pen will lose, she reminds me of Hillary just in different makeup and flavour. But she remains an unpleasant female creature.

Assuming the present course & situation remains as is, Ms. May will receive a strong vote of support for the direction that she is following.

Moby will continue to moan, and the British Isles will see some fog.

The fields wide open. She could quite possibly win.
I don't think there's any comparison with HRC.
Unpleasant? Matter of opinion, I guess.

Yes, Moby will continue.

Dutch newspapers said this was a move that was 'well played' mrs. May.

In the text it appears the editors think it was a stroke of pure genius to do this.

Strategically, I would agree with the Dutch editors. :)

I can understand why she gave a commitment to not having an election prior to the Brexit agreement. The situation now is not as it was then, it is clear that there are strong interests seeking to derail British democracy and democratic process - similar tactics to those seen in the USA at present. An election now, assuming a conservative victory, will tend to reduce the volume of the noise from the anti-democratic forces in the UK and will reduce the ability of EU negotiators to cleave apart British unity.

Re: General Election - Coalition option ?
« Reply #28 on: April 20, 2017, 07:32:56 AM »

Last option is LibLabSNP Progressive Alliance.

THAT is a very specific coalition - and a very scary one ... I referred to any coalition. A Tory / Lib Dem one might be more likely - if it wasn't for the LDs getting punished for breaking the no tuition fees electoral pledge.

I think any objective analysis of the past few months would show that a GE was inevitable.

'Wonderful' powers of knowledge AFTER the event .... It was a shock election for most.

Ok. who voted UKIP  :king:

They tend to be retired, driving Rovers and thinking Britain is still / should be an Empire and that all foreigners should go home ....

Meanwhile their 'hero' is the only guy who can lead their party - the other fight each other -  and he keeps having foreign partners .. :dh:

Internet bets with reasonably honest people are a whole bunch of stupid.

Betting with something like moby is just ridiculous. You win, you won't get paid, you lose and you'll never hear the end of it, even after you pay up.

Either way, it is like giving him a stick with which to poke you.  :dh:

DS has swerved my betting prediction  - despite his suggesting the 'fate' of the Lib Dems' and wants me to choose his ? :) I think the Toris will win an increased majority - I just want them to be forced into a coalition. Do TRY to keep up !

You know what you're writing is false yet you try and speak from a position of credibility.

The vast majority of UKIP voters will agree that controlled immigration is a good thing for the country and foreigners are more than welcome on these shores. It's the uncontrolled, tide of immigrants continuously arriving, leaving society and our services stretched to braking point and not being able to do a thing about it, that pisses them off. Watching a bunch of criminals and islamic extremists taking advantage of our hospitality only adds further insult.

Farage has held this view for a long time yet you try and make him look like some kind of racist little man with inconsistent political views for reasons unknown. I'm guessing he's either disproving the lefts rational which gets up your nose or you simply aren't very clever?

The vast majority of UKIP voters will agree that controlled immigration is a good thing for the country and foreigners are more than welcome on these shores.

Your mistake may be trying to suggest you are the 'average' UKIP voter..  Immigration is controlled - other than EU citizens - those who are not  threat to Public Health, Hygiene, National Security or are considered a risk to the Public based on Criminality

It's the uncontrolled, tide of immigrants continuously arriving, leaving society and our services stretched to braking point and not being able to do a thing about it, that pisses them off. Watching a bunch of criminals and islamic extremists taking advantage of our hospitality only adds further insult.

Hmm, I am 'confused' - which 'Islamic' terrorist in the UK was an EU citizen exercising their right of freedom of movement ? You may well actually 'think' like a UKIP voter - basing your judgement on bollox data ....

Farage has held this view for a long time yet you try and make him look like some kind of racist little man with inconsistent political views for reasons unknown.

He IS divisive and has used the route he sought to close to bring in his current wife and his Lover would need a visa if he had his way ....    :chuckle:

I'm guessing he's either disproving the lefts rational which gets up your nose or you simply aren't very clever?

See, where your 'guessing' gets you? There's plenty of pro-EU Tory MPs / voters whose economic ideas are anything BUT left of centre.

UKIP to include a Burka ban in their manifesto ?

As the husband of the MP murdered by wack job posted:     Writing on Twitter, Brendan Cox, the activist and husband of murdered MP Jo Cox, suggested the move had more to do with UKIP's poll numbers.

I fully agree on that one too.

I'm surprised the feminists are so hesitant to crusade against it. It is the biggest example of misogyny there is. The headgear marks women as 'property' and not 'persons' so clearly it could be tattooed on their forehead.

Not quite sure yet but Komrade Korbyn has certainly risen to the challenge, gained confidence, speaks well comes across as a decent human being.

Whereas Mrs May seems to be doing her best to lose this election.

I predict a Tory victory with a reduced majority, or even a hung parliament - but wouldn't be surprised is JC nicked it with a last minute winner, certainly seems to have run into form, with Tories scoring own-goals at will....

Nice to see Ireland with a gay immigrant(ish) PM too, well done Fine Gael......

Well well well... Moby must have missed it or keeps quiet!

The Guardian view on the election: it’s Labour

"Our desire is for a Labour government, but our priority is to stop the Conservatives."

After slinging mud at Jeremy Corbyn since his election as party leader,  Guardian changed its view and now supports Labour!

Anybody from its reader’s, reading this belated and nauseating acknowledgement of Corbyn’s success, never expressing or admitting how wrong it has been, or any regrets for the role it has played in damaging his prospects, can only feel nothing else but contempt.

Any how having watched the debates it’s pretty obvious that Teresa May doesn’t have what it takes to be the PM at this time when she has to deal with Brexit. After announcing the policy of the “Dementia Tax”, which she had to retreat badly, I guess her chances for an overall increased majority is out of the window. Maybe she called the election as an escape route, like Cameron did previously.
