Hi All,

I hope our seasoned travelers have some answers for me , regarding my challenge this year to go to Crimea.

The challenges:
- I need to buy a flight ticket without a name on it, as my son hasn't been born yet. Is that at all possible?
- Economic flights have been sold out, so I need a business flight ticket. (Or are they....)
- Tips for traveling with very small (6 week old) infants.
- My wife would like to travel by night, so the children sleep easier. (?).

Because as I see it now, i am in a catch-22 situation.
- I need to have flight reservations for my family/visa. If I don't , I have only 4-5 weeks to get a tourist visa and experience is that this is tight notice for Russia.
- I need to have a name + passport for a flight reservation.

My wife is afraid that if we wait any longer booking our tickets, even business class will be sold out by then as Economy is already sold out. (As in, wait until son is born).

Suppose my wife has labour 1 week later than planned, then the timeline will be even shorter if we wait.

Week 1: Birth of child
Week 2: Valid dutch passport
Week 3-5 : Get a russian visa for both of us (2 weeks only!!!!) I can ask the visum.nl tourist visa center for expediency, but this might be nigh impossible time frame.

I don't think you can book a flight ticket without a name and other biodata. You couldn't really put down Baby Markje, dob : due on xx/xx/xxxx ?
As regards getting a visa, why don't you get a Russian passport as well as a Dutch one. Avoid the need for a visa.

For Markje? Don't think he can without residency. Aside from that NL doesn't allow dual citizenship (normally). Think it's ok for kids though of both parentages.

Another option is to campaign for Crimea to become part of Ukraine - no visa required

Got citizenship in April 2016.
Got his RU-passport in July 2016.. Just in time for our vacation....

Isn't RU citizenship automatic? I think you're between a rock and a hard place. Can't see any other way except wait for the birth, get his Dutch ppt, then go for the visa. All in that timeframe. You should buy tickets for yourselves and add him later. He won't be in his own seat so shouldn't be a problem.
Of course, if you don't get the visa in time you're kippered.

As Mark II sprog isn't born, yet - you simply cannot book a ticket and as he won't be taking a seat - you can pay, later and just get a visitor visa


There are loads of flights to Crimea via SPb, Moscow and one can fly to Rostov / Anapa from Moscow and ferry over

You can even fly from Sochi

Not in Netherlands. Only if the child were to remain stateless, then it gets the mothers automaticly.

Otherwise they remain Dutch only, and they hand you the paperwork to apply for elligable citizenships.

In my case, Russian.

They did that, so that Turkish/moroccon children weren't automaticly enrolled for life against wishes of their parents.

I meant  isn't a child born of a Russian parent, regardless of place of birth, automatically a Russian citizen, without having to apply for citizenship?

However I must admit that the existing SU tariff system for SVO - SIP route is a major PITA...

In the US, infants are allowed to travel on their mother's, or father's, lap as long as they don't require an extra seat. And I think it is already mentioned, the child is quickly added to an adult traveler's passport.

Check with your country's passport control, but I think it should be easily done.

Only if it has a russian nationality allready, which in itself costs 3+ months.
I think the RU-embassy in NL is severely lacking in quality listing to other people's experiences, or its the Crimea-thing.

I have researched it all, and it seems the best/quickest way to do this is simply not-to-ask a russian citizenship unless I won't be traveling for at least 8 months.

Russia is Jus Sanguines state, like most sensible states. Jus Soli in this day and age with easy travel, is mad, odd Trumpton hasn't bolted that door...

Doing so would require a constitutional amendment, and it won't happen because the amendment process would require a 2/3 vote in Congress and ratification by 3/4ths of the states, and the GOP doesn't have the requisite numbers - liberals have zero interest in changing jus soli citizenship, because that would prevent illegals, i.e. "undocumented Democrats", from creating "anchor babies", which fits in nicely with both the libs' electoral plans and their ethnomasochism; they would start shrieking "RAAAAAAAAAYYYYYCISSSSM!!!" even more loudly than they do now at the merest suggestion.
