Visitor Visa for friend.
« on: December 26, 2016, 08:03:40 AM »
I am looking for any feed back or help.
My wife's friend would like to visit us.
She has good job, owns apartment.
and has daughter who would be staying in Ukraine.
What do you think her odds would be of getting visitor visa?

Does it help if we say, we will give her place to stay etc?

This is visa for Canada, not sure if anyone else has every even tried this.
There is nothing permanent except change.

I would think that a letter from you and your wife sponsoring her explaining why she is visiting would help.  Also state that in the event anything should happen you would be the one held responsible.

This worked for a US visa for my wife (from Russia)

Trev

Trev, so long as she can satisfy the  Canadian  Gestapo as to her returnability she should be ok. So the usual, strong ties at home, enough money for her stay, etc etc. A letter of invitation is a must, IMO.
Good luck.

Hi

Yes I was wondering how or if us sending a letter would be helpful.

Looks like yes. :)

Anything will help, but just know that a Canadian visa is more difficult to get than an Anerican visa.

Check out the website and see what it says as far as invitations go. Just to let you know, invitations are not required any more for an American visa. I would put her chances at about 20% (I'm being optimistic here) judging by what I've seen with the Russians.

One RW I know was recently denied (1 year ago), and she has a job, 2 kids, owns a flat and has money in the bank. She has also had an American visa before and had been to England, Czech Republic, France and the Emerites all before applying for a Canadian visa.

Anything is possible, but I would say that her chances are not good. But, you never know unless you try, just be prepared for the worst.

However if your friend was a military aged male Muslim from Syria with no way to check his background and no financial assets whatsoever he would be welcomed to Canada.   :drunk:

We were successful in getting a visa for my wife's friend this summer. It wasn't easy, but it can be done.

The big issue was demonstrating that she would return. A good letter from you is essential.

Have your wife's friend appoint you as her agent (ie. you make up the form and have her sign it). You can do it all online. Get scanned copies of any needed documents sent by email.

Check your inbox.

thanks BC

I replied to PM.
We will make an attempt for spring and see what happens.
I have been successful twice before, but for women I was dating,
one now being my wife. Her being Ukrainian might make a small difference.
Canada -  Ukraine relations are very good. but like always
fair amount of luck involved.
