Hotels in Moscow

I don't know if it's the bite of the sanctions, but I was looking for hotels to book in Moscow over the holiday period (Jan 1-10ish) and prices seem to be very good.  So, that got me thinking, what would be a really nice hotel to book in Moscow.  The top tier ones are still more than I want to spend, but are there some very decent hotels that anyone would recommend otherwise?

Thanks Gipsy.  Metropol looks nice and it would be $182CAD/night.  It might be a bit more than I want to spend, especially as this will be the end of our first time together.  I don't want to send the wrong messages, or to spend so dearly at the moment I am settling into a reduced income.

For reference and comparison, the Mercure Paveletskaya, is $79CAD a night.

Thanks Gipsy.  Metropol looks nice and it would be $182CAD/night.  It might be a bit more than I want to spend, especially as this will be the end of our first time together.  I don't want to send the wrong messages, or to spend so dearly at the moment I am settling into a reduced income.

For reference and comparison, the Mercure Paveletskaya, is $79CAD a night.

If price is the key, then maybe you should look at the Melody Hotel...near enough to the centre, good food and service, accommodation also good... I have never stayed there myself, but several Russian friends have recommended it to me in the past...

Thanks, I'll have a look at that. It looks like there's a number of good five star options in the $100-$150 range. Of course, I'd be very happy at the Four Seasons right beside Red Square, but $667 a night....

The Kadashevskaya Hotel would cost you much more..    about £600/night..

There's several Radissons in Moscow.  The one that goes by the name Radisson Blu Belorusskaya Hotel near the Belorussky Station is going for $77CAD/night at the moment.  Or are you staying in one of Stalin's Wedding Cakes? - The Radisson Royal Hotel is in the same price tier as the Metropol and Ukraina (+/- $200CAD).

Marriott Moscow Grand on Tverskaya near Metro Mayakovsky is one I have my eye on.  Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya is slightly further afield (Metro Komsomolskaya) and slightly cheaper, but would be an option for staying in one of Stalin's Wedding Cakes.  Hilton is about $100/night, while the Marriott is $125.

Were at the cheaper one, Beloyusskaya a bed is a bed.. I don't plan staying more than a few hours in the room a night anyway..

The Radisson Royal, is also the Ukrania, most Moscovites still call it the Ukrania, but it was re-named as the R Royal after the modernisation it underwent..

It is also right across the river from the white house.
