Second trip
« on: June 05, 2016, 11:06:42 PM »
I just got back from my second trip to Ukraine. But the lady I saw last time and I are no longer together. I am thinking she was just a scammer and I was stupid and blind, but she showed some signs of sincerity, and I saw some lies, so I was never really sure. I guess what is to be expected on a PPL site... I had already made plans to see her and bought a non-refundable ticket, so I decided to go anyway, and if nothing else, see my friend in Kharkov. But in the meantime, I tried a different site and met a great lady. At first she almost didn't talk to me as in my profile, I put that I would be in Kharkov if anyone wanted to meet me. She immediately thought I was a sex tourist she said, but I guess I sparked enough interest for her to reply. We have only talked about a month, but I have been very honest with her about everything, so she decided to meet me. But she had just returned from the US, and a bad and short marriage, and was just getting back on her feet and starting a new job. But she took a Friday off for me, and we spent 3 days together.
I took the bus from Kharkov to Dnipro, where she met me at the bus station, and we had 3 great days together, although I stayed in my apartment and she stayed in hers. But I earned her trust in me by being considerate and respectful of her. By the end, I could see that she already loved me, I could see it in her eyes, and I was in love with her as well. We talk several times a day on Skype, and I plan on returning some time this year, when she will be able to take more time off of work. She brought several meals to my apartment, and was very caring. A vast difference from the one I met last year!!! She is about 9 years younger than me, but I was not looking for someone who was half my age, and I am perfectly fine with her age. I think she is very beautiful. We are both very honest with each other, and I think that helps things a lot. She said she was surprised that we didn't argue or have a disagreement even once while I was there. I am very glad we met, as she turned an almost wasted trip into a wonderful trip and blooming relationship. Hopefully I will have future happy stories to post in the coming months.

Hi Jim:
We may have crossed paths without knowing it!  We were home visiting the family in late May and early June likely at the same time you too were in Dnepr.  This makes 14 years I have been visiting there myself and always enjoy being there.  However in the past couple of years the economy and life in general is much different then it was in the past with the ongoing conflict such a short distance away.  Then every couple of nights listening to the sirens of the returning wounded being taken to local hospitals for treatment.

You will find that a number of posters here are or have been married to ladies from Dnipr.  So you are in good company.  If you have any questions about this, or about the city etc. feel free to ask away.

Best regards.  Wes.

Hi Southern X:
Noticed your posting here.  While in Dnepr. we met a lady and her young daughter who are planning to relocate and work down your way.  I think she said she is moving to Brisbane as an Engineer.

yes there are a lot of ukrainians and russians in australia , we constantly pick them out among the crowds of people in  everyday activitys
they all add to our migrant mix in a positve way

I returned again to be with my most wonderful woman at the end of December :party0031: Again we had a most wonderful time, and had 0 problems every time. It was great to be there for the holidays with the one I love, instead of being home by myself. And it was a special trip as well! We just stayed around Dnipro, and she got a ring for New Years. She loved it, although we had to get it resized, and now we are engaged♥♥♥. So now the K1 paperwork starts. I loved all the celebrations around the city, and we went to 3 different parks to see the trees and festivities. We ate out some, she cooked for me some, and made a most wonderful dinner of roast duck, caviar and salmon(although I tried caviar, I am not really a fish eater) for our new Years Eve dinner. She bought me some onyx cups, as I love stones, and we drank our champagne from them. Later we watched some of the fireworks from her apartment.  Another day,  we made vareniki together. She has given me several recipes, and I have cooked all of them at home. She is very happy and surprised I can cook all of them, although at first she was almost horrified I put beer in my okroshka as I had no kvass. But I thought it tasted very very good! I brought her 2 piroshkis I made on this last trip, but they got a bit smashed in my luggage. Too bad I don't remember how to attach photos, as I don't use this or any forum much. I went to meet her mother for the first time, and she cooked a huge Christmas meal for us, which was all very good. I booked the trip rather late, and with the holidays, had a difficult time finding an affordable flight, and had to get my tickets at the airports, which caused me to almost miss several flights! The good thing is that was more on the return, rather than the flights out, as I didn't want to miss New Year, and also I got my seat in first class on 3 of the flights :) :) I am going to try my hardest to return for the one year anniversary of when we first met online. Then it will be the wait on paperwork. I have to thank this forum for pointing me towards good websites, or I never would have met her. And I am also thankful for a lot of other information that was very helpful!!!!!

Well done, Jim

Good luck !

BTW - if it ends in 'i' - it is already plural - no need for an 's' on Pirozhki ;)))))

Congratulations JH,

I'm not sure of the online anniversary, but I would highly recommend getting
back to see your girl in the next 2-3 months. This is a very stressful time for
a girl and face time is is important.

My girl got scared many times during this process and there were plenty of
tears.

I highly recommend that you keep her busy. She has a ton of paperwork
that she needs to gather, translate and Authenticate (Apostille). You both should
join Visa Journey (Don't use your real names) and read until you can recite any
archaic visa law forward and backwards.

Does your girl have a diploma? there are organizations that can translate
and authenticate it. Does she need driving lessons? more English lessons?
I recommend that you keep her working on things like this.

I also recommend that no flower, bird, bee, sunrise or sunset goes by that
you don't photograph and send to her. Do you have a full garage that needs
cleaned? or a home project that needs to be done? I would recommend that
you take photos and keep her abreast of your progress getting them done.

Seeing you get things ready for her will help reduce her stress.
She will still stress out, this is really f#cking scary, to leave her family,
language and culture in a blind leap of faith that things will be great with
you.

Some things to think of.

Do you have one of those hand held shower massage devices?
Do you have an electric tea kettle?
Is there a Russian market near by?

Take some photos of you or a plumber installing a shower massage in your
house and a Russian market will let her know that you are thinking about her
and your future together.

When you go see her (MAKE it happen) carry an empty suitcase for her to
send some things back with you.

This is an exciting time. She will get scared.

Have fun, I wish you continued success!
