So what's the story with that place then? You talk about Moldova lots, is your Mrs from the breakaway region or Moldova itself?

Would hate to hear you've been sentenced to a life of hard labour

The wife and kids are in Transnistria now, I arrive Thursday. Apparently the supermarkets are near empty of food!
We did watch a video on Russian TV about this but thought it probably wasn't true.

looks like there will be no ice cream cake this weekend

Is that due to the blockade from Ukraine and Moldova?

Looks like it, I have seen a little on the news about the situation. Looks like its just the Sheriff supermarkets , seems every where else is ok, restaurants bars and the likes.
The wife usually goes to the market there, foods cheaper :) all ok there.

There used to be just a couple of cash machines in town seems they are no longer working and its not easy to change Transnistria Roubles back to hard currency now.

Nothing to dramatic though.. I don't think the republic is ready to close down any time to soon.

The main thing is the beer is still 0.35p a pint so I can spend a few days besides the pool working and relaxing at the same time :8)

They have a nice little pool complex 50 yards from the apartment :)

Steveboy, do you have any photos to share? I find it very interesting to learn about lesser travelled destinations.

Transdniestrian FM says attempts to preserve Moldova’s Soviet-era borders are utopian.

I'd like to see some photos of Moldova too. And any local talent.

Though be careful, I hear its like North Korea and foreigners regularly get sent to hard labour  ;D
