Last year the governor of Odessa said that Ukraine's economy would, assuming things started getting better right away, take a generation to return to the pre-coup levels.

Saakashvili may have many faults, but he is not dumb. His assessment was probably in the right ballpark and, as we know, things are not getting any better as Ukrainian society disintegrates day by day.

As we should know, the EU Association Agreement made no offers or suggestions for membership of the EU and there was no timescale. The agreement gave NATO access to Ukrainian territory for whatever reasons they needed it but again, no commitments to joining and, as we should already know, countries with ongoing border disputes are precluded from joining anyway.

So, Juncker's assessment would seem to be, like Saakashvili's, in the right area.

It makes good sense that, finally, the expectations of Ukrainians are starting to be managed. Of course this situation should have never been allowed to happen and hopefully the relevant people in the EU, USA, NATO and Ukraine will spend an eternity in whatever version of hell least suits them for their crimes against Ukraine and Ukrainians.

I don't think the EU is interested in Ukraine anymore not that they ever were! It was just the US Empire hoping to take Crimea and sticking some nato base there was the big plan.. that went tits up thanks to a smart thinking Mr Putin  :thumbsup:
