Ukraine to ban Dutch products?
« on: February 29, 2016, 08:39:24 AM »
From a friend, who's husbands brother works for one of the ministries of Ukraine.

They are putting together a plan to boycott imported Dutch products should the Dutch vote against the Ukraine in the up and coming referendum.

How true this is, I cannot say, but would not put it past Ukraine to try to influence the referendum by a threat of sanctions against the Dutch..

I really doubt that. Look at what the Dutch exports.

1- Refine petroleum products
2- Natural Gas
3- Oil

Last I checked the Ukraine was still looking for sources to buy gas.

Better they try to find a source of money to pay for what they have stolen already.

I doubt anyone will be queuing up to supply a country with a history of theft of, and non-payment for gas.
I apologise.

http://netherlands.mfa.gov.ua/en/ukraine-nl/trade

Not so little then....

I really do wish Ukraine would use fluent English speakers when doing their English language publications. Example:

Quote
FDI from of the Dutch origin to Ukraine's economy came predominantly to the following sectors: industry ($2021,1 million), information and telecommunications ($1057,5 million), wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles ($723,6 million), financial and insurance activities ($306,0 million), real estate ($507,5 million), professional, scientific and technical activities ($328,2 million), administrative services ($151,6 million).

Pretty sure this is a Google translation rather than a human translation.

Nóg irrelevanter dus, dan de algehele Nederlandse export naar Oekraïne, die slechts 0,179% van het totaal bedraagt.

Translation: Even more irrelevant than the entire Dutch Export to Ukraine, which is just 0.179% of the total (export).

The link 0.179% is clickable, for raw data.

They're buying it from Russia, at 500% the original price. +Russia demands to be paid in advance first.

Ukraine had about 17bcm of gas in their underground storage ready for the oncoming winter, in addition, they are importing about 22mcm/d from Slovakia.
They also have own production of about 1bcm/y.
Fortunately, this winter has been very mild for them, and they should manage to get through to spring with their current supplies/reserves.
This has been possible not only due to the mild winter, but because they have reduced their annual reliance on gas down to about 60bcm, by increasing coal usage, and reducing the temperatures of hot water deliveries to the public.
Previously, hot water for heating was delivered at around 60-70C, now its 45-55C, with a similar rate for tap hot water.
Older folks have complained about the lack of effective heating, and at the increased costs, but in the main have accepted the situation.

I don't know about the 500%, but they are also buying Russian gas from EU countries at a higher price than the Russians sold it.

If that is considered any kind of good management on the Ukraine side then we can understand just how Ukraine gets to be how it is.

And Texan77, where do you get your impression of 'hate' from? Have you been chatting to your 'girlfriend's' Pravy Sektor boyfriend brother again?

Not correct..

They ceased buying from Russia in November last year.

They have to pay about $220/1000m3, whereas, Germany get their at just under $200/1000m3.

Yes, Russia does insist on pre-payment from them, due to the debt that they have with Russia for gas supplied in previous years...

Both Hungary and Poland have stopped supplying gas to Ukraine, citing lack of payment..

I think everyone is going to get soooooooooo tired of that country soon enough. They are like little kids bickering and arguing amongst themselves.
I think the culture of stealing and acting like kids is so deep in their blood it will not change for many years to come.

A total lost cause..

Once I double booked a flight on Ukrainian airways due to a fault of themselves , after lots of calls and mails and promises the money will be refunded refund I gave up. They F**** can keep the money! I thought..

I would say the vast majority of Ukrainians want money for sitting on their asses!! And thats all the way from the top to the bottom, in private life and business life. Money for nothing, if they cannot have they will steal..

Welcome to Ukraine..
