Shopping in the FSU
« on: February 21, 2016, 01:34:57 AM »
Most of our significant others are either from the three Slavic countries, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine or from Kazakhstan, the most ethnic Russian of the stans.  All four countries currencies are in free fall.  I imagine most of us find the Russian culture fascinating, as I do.  This would translate into exceptional shopping opportunities while on holiday with our lady.

Here are some of the items I have brought back with me.

Russian classical music CD from label Melodiya

Kasli cast iron decorative pieces

Gold and silver soviet era jewelry

Russian porcelain plate with all former republics

Bronze figurines of Gagarin and other Soviet era heroes.

Bronze bust of Tchaikovsky

soviet era mechanical watches

Modern Russian mechanical watch

Shot glasses

Glass decanter

Lomonosov tea set

What other interesting items have you brought back from the other side of the iron curtain?
