So, you want a Russian passport? It may become possible.
« on: February 07, 2016, 05:18:01 PM »
Here is an interesting thing, how accurate it is I am unsure. But judging by the source, I don't doubt it.

Quite by chance [via wifey's Russian women in the UK network], I have become acquainted with a chap who works for the British government; ostensibly with the diplomatic service and sometimes the military. He spent over a decade in Russia [where he met his wife], and has more recently been stationed in various satellite states. He speaks fluent Russian, and we had him and his wife round for dinner recently.

This bloke knows his eggs on all political matters FSU and is a very sharp fellow. As you can imagine, we had lots to talk about. One of the things I was grilling him about was his capability to live in Russia for so long as a 'diplomat', and how the visa system worked for those blokes, etc.

According to him, there is a law being quietly passed through the Duma now that will - when passed - allow Russia to issue a passport to people abroad that are in "substantively Russian families or households" who want one. This is apparently aimed at those in satellite states who feel themselves Russian but had to take another passport, or who are a non Russian citizen in a family of Russian citizens.

My man feels this is a way to increase Russian citizens in satellite states as an insurance policy for Russia, just in case it ever has to go into a place to 'protect Russian citizens' in the future. However, the person who presented it to the Duma suggested that it will allow families to remain together in case of a future trend of migration to Russia, due to the Islamification of Europe, Russia will be the only Christian, predominantly white country left in Europe eventually. Meanwhile, it would allow "substantively Russian families or households" to travel to Russia as citizens, without the need for one of them needing a visa.

He was most emphatic that it was aimed at those in satellite states, but the wording he saw didn't prohibit anyone in other countries who lived in "substantively Russian families or households" applying also. And that means blokes like Steve or Sparky who pretty much live in Russia or own property there, or blokes like me who live in a family of three, two of whom are Russian citizens, but I have to trail down to London to get a visa if I want to visit the family in Russia with my family (big pain in the arse, a day off work and hundreds of pounds in travel and hotel expenses).

I would happily have a Russian passport, if I could. I'd love to be able to visit Russia with my family at the drop of a hat. A weekend in Moscow or St Petersburg here and there would be great. Visit the folks in Togliatti without spending hundreds to get a visa. And in the future, who knows? People are now choosing to live in Russia, and the EU is filling up with third world migrants. Who knows what the future will hold? Never say never.

I asked the chap to email me any links he has on it. He says there are none yet as it isnt terribly public; and probably wont be for a month or two till the Yank diplomats pick it up and start howling to the media about it.

Has anyone heard or read anything about this? I have asked the question of a man who knows about these things in London as I'd like to be on the list if Russian passports are available. I expect others here would too.

Isn't Russia already doing this? Russia's given out passports to thousands, probably tens of thousands of Ukrainians, in places like Crimea and eastern Ukraine, Russia's given out passports in Moldova.

Russia has given a Russian passport to people such as boxer Roy Jones and French actor Gerard Depardieu surely with your connections you can obtain a Russian passport for yourself?

As for the idea that white Europeans will be fleeing their countries for Russia due to rising rates of Muslim citizens that's statistically improbable. The birth rate for Muslims in Russia is higher than for Orthodox Russians so the reverse is likely.

You're behaving like the village idiot here because even though there are plenty of Muslims in Russia at least they know who runs the country and if they get out of hand they know what's going to happen.  Just refer to the thread Steveboy made about some Muslims in Murmansk who misbehaved at a Disco.

Anteros we're not talking about the Muslim situation in Europe or Russia changing tomorrow or next week, this is something that if it happens will happen 50+ years in the future. Putin will be long dead.

He may be long gone however do you really think that his successor and those after are going to rule Russia any differently?

The problem I see are ethnic Chinese and China itself attempting to steal large segments of land in the far east.  I've already expressed my opinion about that.

Anteros remember this would be 50+ years in the future, Russia could be radically different from its present political condition. Putin is quite different from Boris Yeltsin so add 50+ years and Russia could be back to a USSR style government or as socialist as California.

As for China grabbing vast parts of eastern Russia, I agree that's a possibility. China does have old claims to the area and China does tend to play the long game. What's 50 years to China?

Yankee you can spend all the time you want in Russia right now, move there and take out citizenship. Or because of your Russia wife a вид на жительство (residence permit) would be easy to obtain.

This has been mentioned often on RUA, what's stopping you?

That may be however in this particular case I agree with Yankee.  Your comments were simply off topic and added nothing to the actual subject of the thread.

Brilliant post Manny.

I would also definitely love to have a Russian passport.

How fluent are you in Russian by the way?

I know refugees from the Donbass area in Evpatoria where my inlaws live. They do not get a Russian passport easily, it involves getting married to a Russian citizen.

I just plan to write to the kremlin some time this year I'm just a little busy at the moment to get all the evidence together and reason why they should give me a Russian passport. Hopefully the end of this summer I will finally get down to doing it. You don't get what you don't ask for! They do grant them, so who knows:)
