Russian Flacking
« on: February 07, 2016, 07:10:17 AM »
The level of flaking (i.e. people not showing up for appointments or thinking up lame last-minute excuses) in Russia, business and private, is reaching epic proportions.
Its one of the biggest problems I have noticed and trying to explain to people about being punctual is beyond a joke.
Its normal in Russia to never turn up on time, never complete a project on time basically never do any thing on time. Its just the same for meeting a women, you can be sure there will be some excuse why she's 30 mins or 1 hour late, if your planning to meet a women always make sure its some where you can sit down and have a beer while you wait.
Its all part of the culture.
I already discovered myself if you need to employ someone in Russia you need a written contract for the easiest job, and they usually need to be sat on YOUR chair in YOUR place on YOUR pc and no where else.

I will second that Chris.  We are always late.  Getting the wife and kids to any appointment on time involves me in a series of escalating demands.  Like you, I tell her the appointment is half an hour before it really is.  We are still late but only by a few minutes...

We used to always be late but reciently we are getting places earlier.  Maybe a 50% on time rate.  Most of the time I go to the car and wait.
What is worse than not being able to get what you don't even want?

I am never late! If I agree to meet someone at 7pm I will be there at 7pm not 1 min past or even 5 mins past. If you agree to meet someone at a particular time its rude and inconsiderate not to be there at that time.
I know exactly how long it takes to get to where ever we are going and so does my wife, so I know what time to leave the apartment. If we need to leave the apartment by 5pm she already knows that I will leave at 5pm wether she's ready or not

If somebody is late, don't wait.

If somebody does not do what they are supposed to do then don't reward failure.

If I make a plan to do something and my partner is not ready then I either go alone or cancel the event.

Be consistent, do as you would be done by.

People learn.

In the USA we call it CPT. Most people in this area know what that means. Colored People Time

In this time zone and minute can be all day. "I will be there in a minute." If she is suppose to be some place at ten a.m. that means she might get up at ten a.m. and then call you and tell you she is on her way. Of course, she will leave in another hour maybe if your lucky.
I had a male rapper that was suppose to meet with me on Sunday at noon. He said he was on his way. He showed up Tuesday.

My girl in the Ukraine is never late. She is very good about that. But I dreamed about a business in the Ukraine but soon came to the conclusion I can not manage who I would need to hire. I feel other people are able to do it so it must be a personal short coming.
3) There has been no "threat" to invade Ukraine. The US invented that and fed it to a complicit media.
