Mr. Putin has now admitted that the sanctions have hurt Russia and the real pain is being caused by the Worldwide oversupply of oil and the resulting low prices.

The biggest pain in Russia stems from the fact that Putin counted on high oil prices to pay off his backers and didn't work to diversify the economy

1 US Dollar is now equal to approximately 78 Russian Rubles.  Oil is now about $31 per barrel.  Something is up with the situation in Eastern Ukraine and I suspect Russia is eager for a deal with the West.
