I don't think from what Steve has shared that he sees Ukrainian women as some kind of 'lesser animal' as you put it. However, right now, with the social and economic structure of the country collapsing, there are clear motivations to women who seek a better life to use a trusting and pliant lonely older bloke as a ticket out of shit - just as many other countries of the FSU used to be a decade or more ago. That means the same caveats as applied then apply right now in Ukraine.

I am sure that any 'thinkers' out there who are fortunate enough to have found their diamond in the shitty barrel understand that the barrel is, indeed, full of shit. I am also sure that the honest thinker would share that knowledge, just as Steve has done rather then tell lies about how great everything is!

Sorry Andy, if your last post is reference to anything I have written, then you obviously misunderstood.

I consider myself an 'honest thinker' and I have told no lies. Everything certainly isn't great over there but there's plenty to like. I was 28 when I made my first trip and my advice to a 29 year old Canadian chap, would be to meet many girls and don't settle for a 35+ MILF with a dozen sprogs.

I met, socialised, dated, had fun with and eventually married one of the young ladies from that barrel you suggest is full of shit. I could suggest something else was full of shit but that gains nothing here on the carousel.

I actively pursued young, beautiful ladies in their early 20's because that's the type I also chased back home. I found out first hand that not all of them wish to start a long distance relationship but some were simply looking for Mr Right. You only find this bit out once you're there and actually on a date btw.

And of course there are lots of pit falls along the way, especially the internet/introduction phase but don't be put off by the old chaps who've lost touch with youth. Eye's open, be realistic and have fun!!

Please note the words i used, they were quite specific. However if the cap fits you then please feel free to share in the wearing of it.

Is the sensitivity that lead to your appropriation of the hat I described somehow indicative of something else here?

There's no sensitivity here Andy. Only trying to provide a balanced view on the subject to the young OP. Generally speaking, if guys like me say nothing then it paints a pretty sorry picture.

Also agree that first you need to find a lady that you are into and is also into you!  The country she is from comes as part of the package be it Ukraine, Russia or elsewhere.  Many FSU families are scattered over many modern day countries, meaning family live and work in both Russia and Ukraine.  If you marry such a lady then your continuing adventure will include visits to both countries into your future life together.  So again look for the lady and worry about the where from once you find love from where ever.

I am 29 and I would say I am looking for someone in the age group of 27-34.

First, learn as much Russian as you can.  It is the lingua franca in the FSU.  Ukrainians will understand it and not bust your chops about it b/c, as a foreigner, you are not the "oppressor".  The more Russian (or Ukr) you understand the better off you will be.

Also, when guys here tell you "don't date a girl under X years" or "don't go to X country, they're all gold diggers there", they are really talking from their own limitations, not yours.  If you meet a girl younger than your range and she is serious then proceed accordingly.

Sure there are bits of Ukraine that have a civil war now, but outside of those areas--which is most of the country--everything is mostly normal.  Guys with ethnic Russian wives are often fond of trashing Ukr as are guys who have never been there, or guys who aren't successful with Slavic women, either.

Good luck in your search.

Indeed.

Jeremy, Where have you travelled in the FSU so far? Do you have a passport? Own teeth? Hair?

What's made you consider a woman from the FSU?

Thank you for the advice, I will keep all of that in mind.

Are there any red flags that will tell you that you are into a gold digger?

Awesome, thanks for the welcome Manny!

I do also have a question, upon my registration on this forum it gave me a link to try to communicate with foreign women and the site I am using is ladagirl.co.uk, can you confirm if this is a legit site?

I've noticed quite a few of the women are from either Odessa or Kharkov, is this something to draw a red flag?

It is a site we are connected to but do not personally run. As legit as any other. But you must do your own due diligence with women you contact from any site.

I've noticed quite a few of the women are from either Odessa or Kharkov, is this something to draw a red flag?

As much of a red flag as the rest of what is left of Ukraine. Which is much debated here generally ad infinitum. Personally, I would be avoiding those two locations in your shoes. Here is one reason why.

I read the conversation about the women from Kiev and Odessa, while I do agree to avoid these areas due to high volume of women being from these areas do you think it's because of the high population in Ukraine for these cities? Kiev has 2.8M civilians according to Google search and Odessa has just over one million. Just a theory to put out there.

I would suggest that at this time, there are many women in Ukraine looking for a "Get out of jail free" card.

Jeremy, you shouldn't be in any hurry to find a life mate should that be your goal. While I wouldn't venture too far under 23, at your age you're looking at a 1-3 year time frame if you're serious, so 21 and above should not be thrown out the window. I say meet as many as possible of all ages to better understand exactly what you're dealing with.

At 29 you should really just start meeting FSUW and not put any limits or restrictions on age or country, nor should you have too many preconceived thoughts. Simply start your journey and see where it takes you.

One thing about women over 30 is that most will have a child, and the ones that don't will need an extra look see as to why they don't, given a culture that expects a woman to have a child by 30.

What I would do if it were me doing this now at 29 is NOT deal with any agency. There are just many, many women that can be met through other means, which IMO, includes spending an extended time in-country.

I will say this again, there are just as many RW looking for a husband as ever before. No one here meets as many everyday RW face to face as I do day in, day out. I literally know thousands (I mean really know them as people that I could literally start my own agency :P) and none of these women belong to any agency. The problem lies in the ability to actually meet them. This is the crux of the matter, and where your main focus should be.

The board can debate what is the best method of meeting them, but an agency is definitely not the way to go.
When it is dark enough, men see the stars.

Jeremy, you've had lot's of great advice.

Personally, I'd ignore most of the anti Ukraine nonsense you read, as if you are on the ground - having made some contacts, you should quickly work out who is taking you for a ride.

Ukraine is a good starting point ... no need for a visa and more used to western travellers. You'll find plenty of posters than will help you  with recommendations for apartments.

You really should learn some Russian and go when it is Summer - to the coast .. you'll quickly 'get' why...

That part of Ukraine is a rich mix of many cultures and the women can be exotic

Once you feel more confident, please try out Russia. It is an amazing country.

Good luck

I would say a great starting point would be Russia, Moldova, Belarus. Ukraine defo is not the best place to start.

And best make sure what ever women you meet has a reasonable job, accommodation, smart phone and a fur coat. Most women in Ukraine seem not to have any of those and it will usually mean you will need to purchase it for them..
