Obviously the word 'gopniki' does not mean what Ste has been told it means.

No, just 88%, not all indoctrinated, some too scared to not be, some not bothered, but you do have to say most are a bit let's say 'easily led'.  Like Thatcher did with her vote-winning Jingoism in 1982. Watch the Reggie Yates progs. I mentioned.

From what I've seen recently, the vast majority of educated people in Russia are not Putin fans, back in the old days they would be counted as dissidents. See the parallel?

Don't get me wrong I love Russia and the Russian people, but they are being led into Stalinesque pro-Soviet past based on no real infrastructure to support it and shockingly poor record on Gay and Human rights.

Could it have something to do with the fact that In the Now appears to be owned by or associated with RT or Sputnik, both of which are owned and operated by the Russian government?

I think there are more well educated Russians than you have ever met Ste. Again, one does not need to be an expert, just able to count.

Counting works like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on.

So, as it stands, the word gopniki still doesn't mean what you were told it means.

Look up the Daily Express and change the record.

No, just 88%,

So 88% of Russians are gopniks? Are you sure you know what it means?

Like Thatcher did with her vote-winning Jingoism in 1982.

The same Thatcher that was the greatest PM we ever had?  :coffeeread:

From what I've seen recently, the vast majority of educated people in Russia are not Putin fans,

So using your numbers, fewer than 15% of Russians are "educated"? Despite the fact that way more go to university than in the UK?

Gay and Human rights.

You seem very worried about the gays.  :hidechair:

Really, this is sixth form common room politics you are spouting. Its easy to spot a Corbyn man.

Please enlighten me Ste.  What "rights" don't gays have?  In the West they can shut down a business so in fact they have special rights, or shall we say far more rights than others.  Same thing in employment.  A lesser qualified "gay" in the West can get a superior co-worker fired, or at least try to, for every alleged slight.

So to summarize:  better rights in the West, lesser so perhaps in Russia (although this is disputed because gays with money or connections in Russia are entirely left alone -- even gays who don't try to make public protests are left alone).

So what is your point Ste?  Why does one small group get special rights and special treatment over normal folks?  And why your preoccupation with it, as Manny asks?

Did you have so much fun sucking your own dick back in college that you miss that sort of thing?

Are you going to stop insisting that western media is controlled by their respective government and/or the US government/CIA?

are you suggesting that instead of "controlled" the word "strongly influenced" be used?

Yankee I'm in Canada and even I know of a number of major American media outlets (not counting Fox) that have criticised Obama and his policies. How many national Russian media outlets have openly criticised Putin and his policies?

Remember when Osama bin Laden was killed? There was much cheering about it but there was also criticism. Then when a drone strike killed 16 year old, American Abdulrahman al-Awlaki in Yemen there was considerable criticism as has happened with many Obama sanctioned drone strikes.

Yankee have you read criticism of Putin in RT or Sputnik? His policies in Syria or at home?
