You seem to know more about the harsh Russian winter than the average foreigner, so your granny probably was Russian.  :saint:

Right, i bet Andy and myself would survive too, but: "I will not complain what ever the situation"?! :eeekk:

Why survive then?!

In my long ago youth my family lived in northern Canada where winter temperatures of -40o C and lower were expected. A day of only -20o C would be a regular school and work day.

With today's technological in cars to deal with extreme cold weather and cold weather clothing -20o C really isn't much of a problem. An inconvenience at best.

True  :) After years of living in Moscow, I am particularly loving the early sunrises in Monte. I miss the snow though.

Why get out of bed?

Which part of your work can not be effectively done from the comfort of a duvet?

I could stay in bed all day and work from the laptop  ;D  with the wife next to me doing the same . But Im not that sort of person to be stuck in bed all day even working I prefer to be up dressed and ready. Always try to stick to a routine during the week when it comes to work. I need to be sat at my office desk with 3 big screens in front of me  :)

Of course after a night out on the town I will be lucky to be up by mid afternoon  :sick0012:

I had only 1 misstake:

Quote

Get in your car, fasten your seatbelt, close your eyes and try not to scream.
The right answer was:
Quote
Fetch your winter tires from the balcony. Everyone has two sets in Russia.

I dunno, I guess I watched too many dashcam vids from youtube

Sounds like a normal winter from here.  I expect it is far worse where Don is in "Winterpeg", I mean Winnipeg.  There is a reason after all why more people there have more artificial noses than anywhere else in Canada.

What, all the darkness makes them use yuuuge amounts of cocaine?

Where I am for most winters we find that when there is snow that life is not too grim as the white of the snow reflects the meagre sunlight and decreases the gloom. It is when there is no snow that matters get tough and we get depressed.

Working from one's bed helps.

Last winter I was finding it most therapeutic to hie myself off to my health club for a swim and sauna. As a result I hardly used my light box.

Better yet, I think of moving to Spain for the cold months. Not managed it for longer than a few weeks yet though.
