A fine Russian women, and some good vodka would get most any man to talk. I doubt Norwegians are the only ones susceptible to Russian hospitality. :)

It threatens celibacy more.

For whatever reason, there seems to be a lot of weirdness in Scandinavia.

For whatever reason, there seems to be a lot of weirdness in Scandinavia.

Something to do with long dark cold winters .... Siberians aren't so different...

Speaking of 'craftiness' - it seems that the Asian, American and European model agencies make a bee-line for the Siberian cities to find the next top models...

What kind of weirdness do you mean? Please explain.

This is a public forum, we use Private Messages for private conversations. ;)

The answer remains the same though.

If about Norwegian men, 5 years, I drink your morning coffee on Skype with SIDS. I'm sorry, very cold in Norway. I prefer to Stalingrad.

Living on the outskirts of Europe, I am always interested to learn about other people`s conception of the icy rock also known as Norway. But as I suspected in this case - bold statements are followed by zero substance when requested. Too bad. Feel free to try again though! We are open to new perspectives!

A rather civilised land of high prices and taxes, but where stuff works despite the Socialism. In Norway, everything seems to work (I never even saw a light bulb out). Buses, planes and trains are all on time, roads are clear of snow even if 3m dropped overnight. An efficient place. Rather like Holland or Germany but more efficient and twice the price. We post stuff to Norway and don't need to bother with tracking there - the Post Office works and the people are honest.

Norway sensibly stayed out of the EU but remained close enough to it to benefit from trade, etc. Similarly with the Euro, they didn't swallow that gag and kept the Krona.

Probably a great place to live if you earn money in Norway and can afford the prices. I have a very positive impression of Norway. I've only been a few times, and aside from eye-watering prices, I have loved it each time.
I apologise.
And so he should.........

For extra credit, someone may direct you to the thread about the "Viking" who enjoys urinating on his girlfriends.

First time I ever heard of 'golden rain' was from a Russian Latvian woman I dated whose ex -  a Russian - was rather fond of being the recipient...

As Russians are supposed to be a chunk of Scandinavian genes - perhaps TomT - inadvertently - has a point . ..

Hi TomT,

I have read the "friggin`" article, but I can`t really see what is unique to Scandinavia therein, nor why it proves that there is "a lot of weirdness in Scandinavia". Not only Norwegians are subject to honeytraps or blackmailing based on vodka and sex encounters, this is - and has been - a widely used tool by the intelligence service in Soviet Union/Russia to gather information. In my view nothing sensational - or weird - about that (or a warning thereof). But maybe puritane Americans are shocked to learn that sex can be used for smth else than to consummate marriage?  ???

By way of background, avhdb, I am from Norway, obviosuly, married to a Russian woman for 2 years, we have a son who is a bit older than 1 year (which possibly indicates that I can be put in the category of the Americans referred to above  :snivel: ). I had a few, but not many, trips to Russia before I met her. Before we married and moved together it took ca 2 1/2 years. Neither of us wanted to rush it, and we both had comfortable lives and good jobs + the flight time from Oslo to Moscow is only 2h30 mins, so we visited each other frequently. This site has been of great help, although (or perhaps exactly because of it) I definitely avoided any scammers or such. I only met women from Russia, and none from Ukraine (but communicated with some from the latter country). Adaption to Norway for her has taken time, ca 1 year of frustration and home-sickness, before it normalized and she was able to see more objectively the differences and that there are good and bad things in both countries.  To be honest I also think that some of the idealization of Russia in the first months was due to lack to approval in Norway (and in Europe in general, due the political developments) of her perceived greatness of Russia + some kind of low self-esteem on behalf of her own country compared to Europe. This feeling of "nobody understands Russia and everybody in the west is only after kicking the ass of Russia" - this paranoia which seems to be developing more and more in today`s Russia, unfortunately, due to more and more anti-western biased media. I know that there are some who claim that the western media is just as biased as in Russia. I don’t share that opinion. Surely there is a general anti-Russian tendency in the media in the west, definitely more negative than Russia deserves. But it is not comparable to the state controlled media in Russia, in my opinion. But here I know the meanings opinions are very different, which I respect, don’t want to start this discussion here. But just to give a few examples: a wide-spread perception in Russia is that pedophilia is legal in Norway, because has been claimed on tv...further, it is a general view in Russia that the Norwegian Child Welfare (who looks after orphants and monitors the general well-being of children in Norway, and which can also take children away from parents if they are maltreated etc) is deliberately stealing children of Russian parents, because in Norway so many people are gay, causing a lack of children, and also in order to improve the genetical pool of the population (because Norwegian genes are so poor...). Maybe this is the basis of your claim that there is so much weirdness in Scandinavia, TomT? Have you watched too much Russian tv?  :)
