Ukraine shuts down airspace to ALL Russian planes.

First it forbids them to land at Ukrainian airports, and now they need to find a new flight paths that does not include Ukraine.
Russia can retaliate, but Ukraine does not need to fly East, while I would think that Russia *does* need to fly West.

Not just USA.  The EU has already agreed to help "finance" Ukraine's winter gas bill.  They will soon learn that a loan is really a gift...

No, but we still ended up paying them dearly, just like our future 'loan' to Ukraine. They aren't EU, but we are gifting them billions of euro's.

Well, it isn't to make their citizens happy. I see more adverse reactions every month to the EU-meddling.

I have no idea why they do it, maybe at first (iceland) they really thought they'd get it back. But with Greece, it has to be obvious there isn't any coming back.

With the EU loans possibly so, but the IMF tend to make profits from all the countries they hand out loans to.

Russia did, with that anti-gay propaganda law there. Outrage in the west, but I think it was just for the people.

I suspect many government make policies to make citizens happy, or try to.

I think they implement policies to appease the people when they're needed, not to make them happy.  The rest of the time many of them push them as far as they can.

Iceland still owes Landsbanki Guernsey depositors. They are being sued right now by Deloitte. Haarde was corrupt. Iceland is no example to anyone.

Iceland still owes Landsbanki Guernsey depositors. They are being sued right now by Deloitte. Haarde was corrupt. Iceland is no example to anyone.

Iceland government also refused to pay the deposit account security element to all it's Dutch and UK depositors.  The Dutch and UK depositors were paid by their governments.  Iceland government refused to reimburse.

Do not expect ANY Iceland bank to be operating internationally in future.
