Here's The Book Of The Dead in Syria

OK, not so much a book, but a list, compiled by a Turkish journalist, of senior terrorist/rebel officers killed since the start of Russia's air offensive in Syria.

It isn't exhaustive but it is indicative.

With regard to the names - in almost all cases these are nommes de guerre and not these people's real names. Very often the name indicates the guy's place of origin such as Abu Uwais al Dagestani which indicates he was from Dagestan.

The names and other info has been garnered from social media mentions on Twitter and Facebook, as well as other sources.

The author, a guy called Ali Ornek, seems to be working to keep the list current on his Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/ornekali

One thing I noticed from is feed was this:

The US is going to send in teams of special ops to intermingle with the rebel forces. Now what is Russia going to do? Bomb them?

I think there's two sides to this.
1) These guys will be a tripwire, if killed they will be used as an excuse for a large escalation.
The problem with escalation is that the US and allies are no position to escalate anything. Look how long it took to assemble the Coalition of the Willing for Iraq. It'll take months to put together any kind of real fighting force, meanwhile Russia and its partners are already on-site and ready to bust up NATO supply lines.

2) This is a pacification operation designed to, as with the Lassen, to do the minimum so that those who really want a war are distracted for a while. They will be 'deployed' but kept out of the way, nice and safe and probably with their location flagged to Russia and Syria via back channels so that they stay safe.

The first seems unlikely because it is impractical. The second seems to fit the known facts and the track record of US activity.

Terrorists are terrorists. Operatives from the world's most prolific terrorist state are still terrorists; in Syria or not. A ludicrous idea by the US. Let Russia bomb them, and let America learn to go home and stop meddling in world affairs.

Yes, the US will use this as an excuse to say Russia "killed Americans". The media will ignore the fact that the US sent them to their death on purpose.

Sad really. Blokes with families, mothers and kids being used as pawns in that way. They are brainwashed to think they are fighting for "freedom" or something, when they are really fighting for some peoples oil and business interests. Like lambs to the slaughter.......
I apologise.
And so he should.........
