My wife and I have been laughing over this story

Makes our 20 year gap seem small !

Like as not he will make his new bride pregnant but before the child is of school age he will have shuffled off this mortal coil.  He will leave his widow well placed...

One is reminded of Pukirev's The Unequal Marriage.

ila_rendered

Like as not he will make his new bride pregnant but before the child is of school age he will have shuffled off this mortal coil.  He will leave his widow well placed...

One is also reminded of this joke, titled, "The Old Man and the Beaver":

An 86-year-old man went to his doctor for his quarterly check-up... The doctor asked him how he was feeling, and the 86-year-old said, "Things are great and I've never felt better. I now have a 20 year-old bride who is pregnant with my child. So what do you think about that Doc?"The doctor considered his question for a minute and then began to tell a story.  "I have an older friend , much like you, who is an avid hunter and never misses a season. One day he was setting off to go hunting. In a bit of a hurry , he accidentally picked up his walking cane instead of his gun. As he neared a lake, he came across a very large male beaver sitting at the water's edge.He realized he'd left his gun at home and so he couldn't shoot the magnificent creature. Out of habit he raised his cane , aimed it at the animal as if it were his favorite hunting rifle and went 'bang, bang'."Miraculously, two shots rang out and the beaver fell over dead. Now, what do you think of that ?" asked the doctor. The 86-year-old said , "Logic would strongly suggest that somebody else pumped a couple of rounds into that beaver." The doctor replied, "My point exactly!"

 :chuckle:

I knew that photo of the couple reminded me of something - that was it.

Thanks for the photos abashka!  tiphat

Would seem that being a celebrity in Russia,is a real advantage in securing a much younger partner.

Here's my take on it. Russian guys in general are a rough looking breed. It's not uncommon to have some Russian male brute paired up with a hot looking girl, she being dressed to kill, and he walking around in his track suit.
That's why ugly guys can get laid in the FSU, and looking compatible is irrelevant.  It's only once you're babe is back on your soil do you get the, HTF did he land her?

Guys with their shit together, can bang girls half their age all week long if they want. The guys with a useless personality just pay for it.

Not in large cities, though. I can say that my friends in Moscow look/dress better than Canadian guys ;D
But probably it is because all of them are well educated, have good jobs (dress code), travel a lot etc, so they do not represent the majority...Oh, yes, and well-shaved too ;D

Don't worry about Don. His perceptions are based upon a uniquely skewed set of reminiscences.
Chances are that, apart from his physique, Don fitted in quite well with the people that he met - if you get my drift.

It's been my observation that, as abashka posted, the professionals in the large cities of the FSU are very presentable and are often better dressed than their North-American counterparts. People who do unqualified work look like they belong to a sub-species whether they are from Russia, the United States or Canada.

p.s.

Being well kept, and sharply dressed no doubt can make one's looks more attractive.
But at some point in the relationship, the clothes will come off.
When there is 30 or more years age gap, can there be a real physical attraction?
For most men a much older women usually is not physically attractive no matter how she is dressed.
Of course there's always exceptions, but I think an intellectual connection is more prevalent in larger age gap relationships aiding in their success.

Spent last weekend in the company of a couple with a 31 yr age gap and two young kids. The guy is 62.. tall and slim and his wife is attractive. They work hard and have taken some knocks, but seem blissfully happy..Most important..so do the kids.

I tink we can say the clothes have come off at least twice.

I guess they are the exception to the rule.

My dear wife was 16 years younger than me. So I have some experience in a larger age gap relationship.
But I just question what a young girl in her early 20s would think  to make them wanna get me some of the old stuff. :chuckle:
Of course it's personal choice, but here in the United states it's not too common.

It isn't common in Russia either.

A few years ago, when I looked, I found that the age difference between men and women when married was actually smaller than in the US at the time. I am sure that as the economy (which drives such things) has improved in Russia that gap will have reduced even further.

Whilst it is not the norm and infrequent enough to wag tongues, it is certainly not THAT uncommon to see an 'ol git with a VERY young lady on his arm

Andrewfi, when you 'looked'...?

Are there statistics for age gaps ?   Perhaps you are predisposed to offer your opinion on many topics - relying on 'reliable sources', but I think I saw more age gaps in Sochi than I had seen before.

Naturally, I would not claim that to be reliable 'evidence' ...

I don't think the majority of Russian guys today walk around in track suits , maybe 20 years ago. You should try going out in Moscow or St Petersburg on a saturday night! If you wore what you have in your pics you would be the laughing stock of the night

I highly doubt Dom's talking about Moscow on a Saturday night?

I've seen this too and in fact the first time was when I was in Kaunas 7 years ago, I was astounded at the tracksuit brigade walking about with stunners on a Saturday afternoon. Point is, you just don't see that here.

Moby, there are statistics for age gaps between people who marry. You can find them on the pages devoted to the Russian census and other similar pages.
Google and Yandex are your friends. You obviously have the time.
