It gripped a lot of people. The best thing we can do for them really, is end the war thats going on there, not half-assed like now, but a full-scale operation with all the big countries on-board and cutting this snake up.

Agreed, but not by bombing people, but by trying at least to rebuild their countries that US/UK/EU aggression/weapon sales has/have destroyed - it's the least we can do.

We (ie West) caused the mess, let's fix it and the cost is like nothing compared to a new Navy Ship for one of us or a study about how the 48 week is bad for us....

Nice bleeding heart liberal delusion.  The more money you give these economic migrants, whether in the West or back in their home countries, the more children they will continue to have.

Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.

Moby keeps trying to use an avatar of the dead kid. We keep removing it. Photos of dead children do not make for a good avatar; I find it in quite poor taste.  :-\

It's too cynical, to try score cheap points on a forum via one family's tragedy. Both of them, Moby and Ste, could go volunteer their time to help refugees at the camps, instead of posing here as i_don't_know_what vs us, who, are like, cruel, in the comparison  (:) My own father is conservative, but he was helping financially, donating, to people he thought we shouldn't be keeping in our country (myself i was volunteering.) It's the ultimate idiocy to post ad perpetuum on a board which won't change anything, just to make Manny and the rest of us look bad, instead of actually doing something with all that free time... It's not only shmanpange socialism, it's mocking the tragedies of the people you presumably support... Shame. Humanitarians... right (:)

Do something. Donate. Volunteer. Send provision. Offer someone a shelter. Offer them help with filing documents in English. We got it that you are better person than the rest of us, more noble and compassionate, kudos to you. Now go do something for a change. Don't forget to pick up Moby too, he's also a nicer person than the rest.

I am all for letting a refugee use my spare room.  All they need to do is keep my house clean, the cooking and repairs.

We had given our apartment in Budva, while we still had it. It's normal and human. We can disagree on the level of political decisions of our leaders, but in real life no one here would bypass a human being in need. This reminds me of facebook - i won't do anything, but i'll repost pics and thus calm my consciousness. Well, it doesn't work that way, to the contrary, you are adding more grief and negative emotions to this world, while not changing it the least bit for better.

And *BOOM!* goes the dynamite!

My own father is conservative, but he was helping financially, donating, to people he thought we shouldn't be keeping in our country

Some years ago, Professor Arthur Brooks wrote a book called "Who Really Cares?" after he set out to examine America's habits w/r/t charity, etc.  He started a Great Liberal Freakout b/c he found that conservatives gave more money on less income than liberals, were more likely to donate blood (indeed, what he found was that if libs and independents donated blood at the same rate as conservatives, the nation's blood shortage would vanish overnight), etc.  Even now, when you point it out, libs go berserk b/c it messes with their self image as 'the best people'.

When a liberal says "SOMEBODY SHOULD DO SOMETHING!!!" they of course mean somebody else.....

It's the ultimate idiocy to post ad perpetuum on a board which won't change anything...... Shame. Humanitarians... right (:)

It's 'moral signaling', that's all.

This was a tragedy but thousands of children die all over the world everyday from hunger and disease. Why is this one making news, especially when it was a needless death caused by the actions of a parent. Some parent?
More fool Cameron for kowtowing to the bleeding heart brigade.

I thought it so, esp. when it comes to donating money. I can't speak badly of liberals though, because most of my real life friends from US are in fact liberal and active within their communities, they do help a lot in various ways (money included.) I do know other type - wet eyes, bleeding heart, but too lazy, too high on who knows what to do anything... (:) Or the discourse on karma, or some other equally invalid excuse... Do something, all there.

Yes, i know, but i think it's better to read a prayer in this 30 sec that it takes to make such post here or on facebook (i do think like that.)
