Some pretty funny stuff here I thought.

And if you have been there, you'd know that was wrong from day 1 in 1954.

It felt OK for the indigenous population, Markje. They preferred being part of UA. The planted population became the majority.

Remember prior to being conquered - like - say, Texas. It was populated by a different people....

I speak as a 'planted one' and appreciate the havoc it can cause, decades later.

How far do we go back to 'right wrongs' ?

Russia agreed Crimea was to stay with Ukraine and signed treaties to that effect. Promised to protect Ukraine in return for giving up nukes...

That all changed with Violent Maidan, but lets not argue this in this thread. We have been over this many times. Crimea is a happy place now, as it was before annexation. The 2 months before annexation, was the exception and quite different.

The USSR?  LOL.  Just be on the guard for Russia's eastern provinces to get eaten up by a hungry Chinese tiger.

You obviously don't read cyrillic  :-X

If you did, you'd notice the entry of Ukraine immediatly ... it is very funny.

Read a trip report from North Korea >>here<< - Read a trip report from South Korea, China and Hong Kong >>here<<

Look what the American media makes some people believe:
Putin often threatens to strike US with nuclear weapons.

Oldie but a goodie.....

(Attachment Link)

"Better be red than blue*" Communist Party of Russian Federation

blue/ голубой is slang for homosexual

Ste, it is hilarious (albeit non-PC), but except you, Manny, Andy and cdnexpat (Fashionista if she's reading), how many peeps you think gets that?!  ;D

It is funny though, for another layer of subtext too: during communism, gay rights were a taboo; current RF leaders continued that "tradition", albeit not for "communist morals", but (ironically) for keeping close ties with the Church;
red, blue and (the text in) white (letters) and you get the Russian flag ... and that's even without analyzing the design in the right corner  ;D

There's the parasite/political party joke too, and 'go russia/eat russia' on bottom right!

the original Alyonka can be seen here  ;D : (Top 12 Russian sweets
- http://rbth.co.uk/articles/2012/08/27/top_12_russian_sweets_17701.html )

"Alenka may not be the tastiest chocolate in Russia, but is probably the most recognized brand in the Russian chocolate industry. It has been in production since 1965 and is the result of a special socialist food program implemented to mass-produce affordable milk chocolate. To find the right packaging for the candy bar, the producers held a competition and advertised it in a Moscow newspaper. The winner was a photo of an 8-month girl, submitted by an artist who worked at the factory, although later rumors circulated that the cute little girl on the packet was actually Svetlana Allilueva – Stalin’s daughter."
