a Muscadet from the Loire Valley.

I wasn't big on Muscadet until I tried one in a restaurant called La Buissonniere in France recently. Now I like it.

I prefer white generally actually, a nice French Sancerre, Viognier or Pouilly Fume* will do nicely. Failing that, something dry and decent like a Pino Grigio from Italy/Sicily will do.

Oz and NZ stuff is popular here, but most is not to my taste with the exception of Yellow Tail from Oz which is nice for the money (I also found that brand in the US).

We don't find so much American stuff here (being next to France there is little demand) but once one moves away from the nasty supermarket stuff, what reaches here is not bad from there. The local market stuff in the US I found alright too.

We were in London recently for the night visiting the Russian embassy (as you do). We stayed in Chelsea Harbour. I decided to splurge on a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape @ circa £40 ($60). Strong money but it was nice glug.

Leaving Russia is not an emigration, rather an evacuation.
