Epiphany: the traditions and customs of the holiday in Russia.
« on: January 18, 2015, 05:24:43 AM »
On the night of January 19, Orthodox Christians celebrate one of the major religious holidays - Крещение Господне. It is also called Святое Богоявление, because on that day the world was the first time the Holy Trinity - God the Father proclaimed Son from heaven, the Son was baptized in the waters of the Jordan River, and the Holy Spirit descended upon the Son in the form of a dove.

Christ has given to the fallen in sin a person to receive the grace of the Holy Spirit after the rite of baptism. Since then baptized receive forgiveness of sins and are reborn to a new spiritual life.
