I suspect there is more to this than the BBC report. Yesterday and today there have morning protests at the court close to where I am. Noisy but quite small, I have paid little attention as they are frequent occurences. In fact they might have little to do with M. Saakashvili.

But today I understood from a neighbour that there are new blockades at Maidan.

I believe you are quite mistaken

Saakashvili is clearly making a play for Poroshenko's job - or at least deposing him.

He has become the new 'hope' for those in Ukraine hoping for a leader that wants to stamp out the rule of Oligarch control

Nadiia Savchenko, is back in the news. Not in a good way I should note.

On 15 March 2018, the Attorney General of Ukraine Lutsenko charged Nadja Savchenko with the charge of preparing a terrorist attack on ukrainian parliament[92]. Lutsenko said that the Investigative Committee has irrefutable evidence of this. Savchenko is accused to have personally planned an attack with mortars and hand grenades at the parliament. Survivors in the plenary hall should be shot with automatic weapons. At the same time, an immunity annulment petition was filed in order to prosecute and arrest them
