There's still many Ukrainians that choose Russia over living in Ukraine.

(Quote)
More than two million Ukrainians live in Russia. More than 100,000 of them received Russian citizenship last year, the biggest number from any country. Up to 700,000 Ukrainians sought asylum in Russia in 2016.

Putin limits cash transfers to Ukraine

I wonder how accurate RT's numbers are in this article?

From personal experience during the time I was in Moscow I encountered many Ukrainians.of those I got to know a bit closer I'd say half were unregistered, so the numbers could be higher as to how many Ukrainians living in Russia.

Thank you!

The two million 'Ukrainians' in Russia could be higher, it depends on your definition of Nationality. My Julia who considers herself Ukrainian spent most of her youth in present day Ukraine, likewise her brother. But he has lived in Russia for almost 25 years and sees himself as Russian.

Off course if one wants to do engage in creative arguments one could say all Russians are in fact Ukrainian because Kivy was the birthplace of the Rus identity/nationality.  :-X

Only you forgot that Kiev or Kiev was part of the the Russian Empire as most of Ukraine was part too until 1918, after the Revolution of Russia and the USSR!
Ukraine between 1939 till 1991 it was ruled from Moscow

Geographically speaking, Kiev and Ukraine are part of Europe and since the country's independence from the Soviet Union has been redesigning itself along the lines of Western European capitals.

I don't think Wiz got it.

Nor do most 'Russophiles' on this forum.

Allow me to fix your 'history'

Only you forgot that Kiev or Kiev was [sometimes ] part of the the Russian Empire as most of Ukraine was part too until 1918, after the Revolution of Russia and the USSR!
Ukraine between 1939 till 1991 it was ruled from Moscow

Kiev/ Kiev was free of Moscow rule from 1918-21  - until the Bolsheviks 'rescued' them and later did a deal with the NAZIs to split POLAND - with the USSR getting the east and Lwow / Lvov / Lvov

For 2/ 2.5  years Ukraine was under Nazi rule  - some fought WITH the Nazis believing they were rescuing Ukraine from the Soviet yolk .....

Normally I do not post article links but I find this on one side Kafkaesque and the other side troubling as it points to the direction that Russia is moving towards.

Free speech Russian style.

“I am shaken to the core by this whole situation,” the former library director told reporters commenting on the verdict. “It is so surreal—to be convicted only because I am the director of the Library of Ukrainian Literature!”
3) There has been no "threat" to invade Ukraine. The US invented that and fed it to a complicit media.

It might be time for the Librarian to move.

WAIT! This is the Russian side ... Then they should put her in jail for having planted evidence.

If they don't, what will happen next? LGM will invade Kiev and Odessa.

WAIT! That happened already.

Little Green Men from Russia already tried to 'invade' in Odessa, Ukraine. That did not end well.

In Odessa, Texas, Little Brown Men are having better success.

EAstern Ukraine is now Malorossiya!

Little Russia: Ukraine separatists proclaim new state

All of (eastern) Ukraine, minus Crimea, has been declared a new state by Donetsk separatists in the east. Their new nation of 'Malorossiya' has a flag and a map.

That was pretty much inevitable. Having two separate republics was simply not feasible. The longer that the Kievan regime resists implementing its obligations under Minsk the less possible reintegration will become.

Good spot AvHdB

YES, that's the place - I feel sorry for the small RU town of Chertkovo and the UA settlement of Milove . The slower trains to Moscow stopped here - Sellers got on and one could buy fresh produce - they disembarked at Voronez ...

It was certainly not 'war-torn' or unsafe - I mean - who has read of Russian Railways workers of passengers being attacked ?   No ..this was a region AWAY from the war.

The track was un-fenced either side and the only clue was the bus stops were painted blue and yellow ..Most passengers didn't even realise that the train went 10 KM into Ukraine ...
