One (or more) of them is Leodesian, or Loiner, ie from Leeds, I believe song was written in Armley, famous for Armley Gaol, where some of Britain's best serial killers have been held.

Fascinating bit of trivia, thanks for sharing Ste.  tiphat

And of course, not sure if you know, the name 'Chumbawumba' can from an experiment that tried to emulate the theory that if you have enough monkeys and enough typewriters and enough time, one would re-write the complete works of Shakespeare. They tried with finite monkeys and finite time and the nearest reasonably pronounceable word was 'Chumbawumba'....

O pointy birds, o pointy pointy, Anoint my head, anointy-nointy.

You don’t say... No, I’ve never heard that explanation before but I have wondered where they came up with the name. Mystery solved.

I guess I have heard reference to monkeys in a room with a typewriter before but didn’t know of the connection; I’ll have to read up on that.

On the other hand, I have heard the term ‘tubthumping’ before (usually in reference to someone shouting unwanted opinions and rhetoric).

And, the opening phrase, I think only on the (slightly) extended version, features a chant 'Only singing, when your winning' which was a common song sung on the English Football (soccer) terraces at a team's supporters regarded as fickle 'You only sing when you're winning...'..

No kidding... cool to finally learn the reference to the intro (I have the extended version in my music library). The things you can learn on RUA...

There are some great passages in L. Carrol's poem Jaberwocky that surpass a bunch of monkeys.

And there is from "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe"

"Oh freddled gruntbuggly thy micturations are to me
As plurdled gabbleblotchits on a lurgid bee.
Groop I implore thee my foonting turlingdromes
And hooptiously drangle me with crinkly bindlewurdles,
Or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts with my
blurglecruncheon, see if I don't!"

D. Adams

It should be noted only those related to a foggy island can rise to this level.

My excuses to the moderators if I set off some alarms.

During a dinner a couple days ago here in Connecticut with a wide mix of people. Some also had not heard of A. Bourdain, from there we discussed pop musicians. I was the exception that heard of R. Williams and Take That, of course unless you are deaf this would be impossible in Europe.

I picked a song duet with Nicole Kidman that was made popular by Sinatra & Sinatra. He has other epic songs.

Today is the birthday of Brian Wilson, of the Beach Boys fame.

Wouldn't it be nice, if we just listened to each other.

Didn't know that; happy birthday to him.

My favorite Beach Boys song is one entitled 'Surfin' Safari' - classic California boarding music.
