Not sure if this should be in Today in History or what are you listening to. But 50 years ago 'Hey Jude' was released as the first single on Apple Records.

There are some rather extended versions of this song and in fact it has been covered by a multiple of performers.

In my humble opinion, some of the most splendid orchestral work you'll ever hear: Ennio Morricone with the Munich Philharmonic and Susanna Rigacci. Not sure what else is in there, but a portion of this work is definitely "The Ecstasy Of Gold."

Simply brilliant ~ Thank you for posting this!

The 2nd half is mostly from "The Mission" if I am not mistaken.

Glenn Cambell was a consummate musician from the old school. But I sort of doubt any one from Europe has seen The William Tell Overture preformed this way.

A great song and Chrissy has a rich voice - one of my favourites.

I want to say she was married for quite awhile to the guy from Simple Minds. Though as far as I know they never collaborated.

Good choice Confederate. Here’s another good Pretender’s song - ‘My City Was Gone.’

The Fan Fare for the Common Man was written by Aaron Copeland in 1942. It has since become a staple of orchestras and has been used around the world for different events.

Emerson, Lake and Plamer revisisted the song and it is also epic. When A. Copeland heard the song from ELP he was pleased and complimented the band for there version.

“If you aren't in over your head, how do you know how tall you are?” T.S. Eliot
