I've been following (not in a stalker way) Tara Lee from Ireland, she's a looker, great songwriter and singer, but does a bit too much prancing about for me, and doesn't stray much from the Lorde/Lana Del Ray style. Anyway, she wants me to play bass for her informally over t'internet, few oddball covers, few Kern tracks etc, anyway, like I said, she's got the lot if stuck in a bit of copyist rut at the moment...

Very cool Ste. Never heard of her before but I'm interested. What's your connection?

Ste’s been a musician for many years and as I understand he played in a few bands.

Go ahead and laugh, but I do like this song.

'My Girl' by Chilliwack:

"My soul cries out with a joyful shout that the God of my heart is great, and my spirit sings of the wondrous things that you bring to the ones who wait." - Canticle of the Turning

Funny but I’ve just been watching Doo Wop on PBS. I like this version of My Girl much better.

Yeah, that’ll always be the original.

Sinéad O'Connor, she might be as mad as a box of frogs, and she is suffering at the moment, but she has a great talent, voice and presence. This Is A Rebel Song, about the love/hate relationship between Britain and Ireland, at least that's my interpretation of the song. Gives me the chills....

There's a better version on Youtube but it's not embeddable for some reason...

A feisty one, isn't she (and if I recall correctly, I think she once tore up a picture of the pope live on SNL - quite the visual protest).

Here's another:

All over internet oddly enough, that's how it works nowadays, pestered her to do a full version of Kern's Till The Docklands Drown, its a great version of a great song, and I suggest a watch of the movie the song is partly featured in, A Date for Mad Mary, Tara is in it as Seana Kerslake, and there's some girl on girl action there so fill ya boots...

Anyway, its the music for me, not the lezzing....

I hacked this myself, proper audio, and a pic, as youtube can't do just audio....

These guys were one of the last acts my dad worked with before retiring from the industry. Needless to say, he was not impressed with the backstage shenanigans he witnessed.

Trying to explain how songs can convey a theme or concept, came across this version of A. Corbijn of Cold Play's Viva la Vida.

For the curious the painting that is carted around is in fact by E. Delacroix (1798~1863), Liberty leading the People or the French title is simply La Liberté

Good choice of song / music video to exemplify conveying a message. As a side note, I believe this music video is paying homage to Depeche Mode's 'Enjoy the Silence.'

In celebration of today’s vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere, here’s a good song played in concert with a bunch of talented musicians. ‘Here Comes The Sun.’

An interesting way to introduce children to a variety of musical styles is to play these 'flash mob' video's. And after 9776 attempts I think I figured out how to get a video to display as others have down before.

Here's a talented guitar duo from Mexico, Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Lord of the Dance, thanks for reminding me of one of my all time favorite songs. I really like the edit of classic Beatles photos and videos on this version.

Not sure there is an absolute top version, but Gardiner is very refined and subtle. I think it has something to with nuances which are well captured. The version I posted is not slow the tempo is in fact almost fast. I am basing this on what I have heard in the Netherlands.
