Im looking for advice with which English test your partners took in Ukraine. Katya's nearest biggest city is Dnepropetrovsk. Did your partners take them in Kiev, or nearer to their home and did they do any training with the company first, or just take the test. Any help, advice would be really appreciated.

We plan to marry in April, so im wondering if we should try and get the exam done first, so we can start the application soon after our wedding for the spouse visa.

Thanks

Barry

Bazza. My wife took her exam with the british council in Kiev. She called up and found when the next eexam was.
It took about 6 weeks from exam day until we had certificate.
As my wife was asble to speak english she just booked up the exam, wuthvery minimal study. They have special website with lots of information. She attained an A2...required pass was a1.
Depends how well your lady speaka da lingo!

Chris, thanks I hope Katya doesnt keep Ira up all night chatting :)

Simo, thanks I was getting a little confused with all the different exam names. I have email both the British Council, as they have a test at the end of March in Dnepropetrovsk, so not far from where Katya lives. I have also emailed Cambridge Exams, as they have tests in Dnep and another place a little closer.

No problem Barry, Ira is compiling a list of documents and info etc as I type.  No doubt you or Katya will have it later tonight or tomorrow.

That would be great Chris. Thank you.

Regarding my initial question, there seems to be two main tests, the one run by the British Council (IELTS), seems to cost around 1550 Uah, and another which is the KET (or Key) English test which is run through Cambridge ESOL which costs around 550 Uah. Not sure why such a big difference in price, or which would be better.

Thanks

Bazza the ILETS one is the first test we fluffed up on, we then took the KET test, which was better and staff were a lot more friendlier and helpful.....get your lady to call the KET people.
