These guys are actually very popular. To understand humor of their "Pretty woman" parody you have to know a bit about Ukrainian folk music and history.

Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, ideals, thoughts, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have. Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie.

This band mocks the American culture of our younger generation.

Some Ukrainian folk songs:

This video from show about Ukrainian Cossack's. They give performances across Europe (http://www.cossacks.kiev.ua). Unfortunately I missed their performance in 2008 on Royal Welsh Show; had to just listen from my neighbor how much he was impressed.

Cossack horsemen are impressive! you should be proud.

Marian has told me also of the Kazakhstan horse culture from the past, I find this so interesting.

I use Firefox as well. I am not a computer genius so don't know how to advise you but until you find a solution I'll help out with the formatting after you've posted.  :)

Good iphone radio app.

I want sure where to put this, so I put it here. We might want to start a thread on good FSU smartphone apps.

So, I figured that if I looked, I could find an iphone app to listen to Russian stations and of course I was right. Many stations have their own but it seems that the Wunderradio app is the best.

You can look up stations all over Russia, Ukraine, Europe and elsewhere.

I've currently got radio mayak and russkoe radio on my favorites.

My days of listening to American radio and watching American TV are dimming. Although, I still only get about 50% of the songs, I love russkoe; just love russian pop; i even bought the stations 3 CD set.

Wow, I didn't know that Dave Koz did a concert in Russia last year, June 2011, in Tver. Seems as this great jazz saxaphonist was well received. Here is about 90 minutes of the concert:

Singer/songwriter BC Jean wrote "If I Were A Boy" but it was rejected by her record company. She moved on to other projects only to be surprised later that pop star Beyonce had not only recorded it for a single but claimed authorship and had filed for publishing rights. Jean of course won once legal action was underway and Beyonce had to pay for the music and lyrics and it became one of her 2008 hits.

Country singer Reba McEntire recorded a version in 2010 and now a couple of singers from Голос (The Voice) have performed it for the Russian television program. What do you think of this performance by Александра Белякова и Александр Бабенко (Aleksandra Belyakova & Aleksandr Babenko)?
