If I had a 30yo nephew who was thinking of getting married, I would print this out and give it to him.  The nephew I have who did follow pretty much this advice (albeit by accident or custom) is very happy.

The nieces and nephews I have that have not followed this advice are not very happy.

Obviously written by a man who has never had a successful marriage, and will be followed by men who won't have successful marriages.

Did you take the poll?

According to the poll at this point, some of the so called experts here are wrong.
Funny the top vote getters are love, to give and receive, make them laugh.
and financial  security.

How could the poll-maker have missed possibly the most important thing sought after in a husband?

I was referring to the article cufflinks linked, not the poll.

I understood that. I have been trying to get women to take the poll and
you are a woman so I asked. I can see by the way I quoted you, that I
wasn't clear about what I was asking.

Udachi !

Bill

I didn't take the poll, as I am not a RW.  However, I will tell you that for me, intelligence was my primary criterion.  I could never fall in love with, or be married to, someone who did not challenge me intellectually.

NS1, Bill which experts have said that women do not seek financial security, love and a partner who can entertain them.

One thing to note though. Apart from during the limerance phase, 'love' is something that grows out of the availability of the other attributes. It is an outcome, not an input.

As we already know, quite a few women who have married you guys have, at a later date, 'fessed up that they did not 'love' their husband when they married but they hoped for it as an outcome of making a good life together. Thus 'love' is an earnest hope, not a precondition, for marriage.
...everything ends always well; if it’s still bad, then it’s not the end!

However, I will tell you that for me, intelligence was my primary criterion.  I could never fall in love with, or be married to, someone who did not challenge me intellectually.

I understand completely, the dumb bunnies never appealed to me either.
When I was younger there were a few girls who pretended to be dumb who
weren't. They drove me nuts as well.

I once dated a girl who had mesmerizing eyes, a sultry voice and a beautiful
figure. We were in Ukraine on a warm night walking along a path in a park.
I had suspected that she wasn't very bright but with our language differences
I wasn't sure.

We had stopped and she looked up at the moon and turned to me and asked
if we had the moon where I lived, because she would really miss it. It was our
last date.

When choosing someone to spend your life with intelligence is something that
I couldn't do without either. Humor is another.

You will note that this topic is a couple of pages shorter.  That's because I trashed the bits that were about people's personalities, and issues therewith.  Try and play nice.  This isn't the Wild West section....

My posts contained zero content about personalities.  They were about the content that was linked.   They would have been the same no matter who linked the content.   I made no comment about the poster.

Well, doctor, I guess I found the nerve....

I pruned it where I pruned it.  If you don't like the way I modded this thread you are free to complain to the boss.  In the mean time, pls. go back to nursing imagined hurts.

Cuffy, I think you are better off making your "reading list" a separate topic.  You weren't "censored" b/c of some "LGBTQ feminist imperative", and to think that you were is laughable.  You are more than welcome (AFAIAC) to create your "Manosphere Bibliography" in a more relevant section of the board.....

In my case, hardly.   Feel free to delete all my posts.

Despite your protestations, you do seem to be taking this rather personally.  I mean if you don't care if I delete your posts, then why the need to insist so much on this point?

In any case, I pruned the thread where I pruned it, i.e. around where I thought the last relevant post was.  I'm sure there was some collateral damage, so if it helps you to think that was you (and may well have been) then please do.

I don't take anything on message boards seriously.    However, a message board is for discussion, correct?  I respond to what is posted.  My point was that, contrary to what you posted, my post was not about personalities.  But, I can stop responding to posts, if you believe that is in the best interests of the forum.

It could very well be cufflinks was trolling with his PUA link.  In fact, I hope he is, for the alternative is somewhat disturbing.  But, that's a different issue.

Again, you're making this All About You.  I assure you, it is not. :)

Cuffy's link was off topic as were most of the posts afterwards, whether they were responding to the off-topic bits ore engaging in gross personal attacks.  I salvaged the part of the thread I thought was salvageable, end of story.

I don't believe the other posts were about personalities either, save Andrew's post.  However, that is your judgment call as a moderator, and I didn't want to get a debate about it.
